        I don't like the cookie monster vocals either , but I've got to thank Bill. He was raving about Jeff Loomis one day and I finally got around to downloading some Nevermore and now I can't turn it off!

        this is really good metal, and hey I can understand the vocalist! [img]/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img]
        Loomis kicks ass, and so does their drummer (whoever he is). he's like a machine, unbelievable!

        Anyone else to recommend that's in that vein of metal?

            I just want to spread the love...If I hear a band that whoops my ass...I'l tell it...I'l tell eveyone..

            I was doing that damn Metal list..you know..that whole A thru Z thing..and I started with the Powermetal and prog metal because that is what everyone here seems to like most..but that shit was way too much like work and I didn't get that much feedback for it...so I just gave up...I was almost done with the powermetal section too...I think I got to the Ts or something

            then I was going to do my favorite genre of metal at the moment next..Swedish death / thrash...but ahhhh the hell with it

                I know what you're sayin Bill but your post is way too long for me to read because I'm not stoned [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

                I like a lot of different metal and I know I miss out on some good stuff that has that type of cookie monster vocals on it. I know its good music sans the vocals but I can't bring myself to listen to it [img]/images/graemlins/wink.gif[/img] much in the way that country music has some ripping guitar in it, I can't listen to it [img]/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img]

                  I enjoy all forms of metal, except for nu-metal (not even worthy of the name) and the New Wave of American Heavy Metal kind.

                  I pretty much love all other metal and music (except for some obvious ones: Britney, etc).

                        I say this..because in hindsight..I did miss out of some awesome music...music that I wrote off as pure poop when it came out..

                        just to become some of my very favorite bands years later..like Coroner! [img]/images/graemlins/notworthy.gif[/img]

                        Like my wife..four years ago she thought Pantera was way too harsh...and that was a comprimise on my part...putting something as "tame" as Pantera on to make her happy in the car...so I can be happy...well she wanted no part of it..

                        now I can't get Pantera out of her car ...she plays that and Exodus every single day...I like Pantera and Exodus...but not every single day..

                        Sometimes I'm not in a mood for powermetal..., sometimes I'm all pissed off at the world...sometimes hell...I'm always pissed at the world..

                        so listening to a merry sing a long of Hammerfall.."Hearts on Fire" will only piss me off more..

                        I want to hear music that sooths me...when I'm pissed..and listen to angry music..it's doing the hate for me...so I don't have to...it's doing the shouting and yelling for me..

                        it's great driving music...a soundtrack to some awesome road rage.. [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

                        did you ever have road rage in the house...I have! [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

                        Hate...it's a pretty powerful emotion that sounds great over a double kick!!! [img]/images/graemlins/tongue.gif[/img]
