Paypal discount codes for EBAY auctions

Got this from my BMW message board friends:


Coupon codes for discounts on ebay using PayPal to pay:

$10 off $50 minimum purchase - CATLSP051050
$5 off $50 - CATLSP050550
$15 off of $100 - CATLSP051500
10% off w/ $25 max - CATLSP051025


"Enter the above codes on checkout in the space provided for gift certificates and coupons. All are one-time use each. Valid through 7/15/2005. Not sure if they'll work outside of ebay using Paypal. I used the first and last this weekend and they worked fine."

Does the seller still receive the full amount? Let's say I'm selling something and it ends today. The buyer pays for my item. Will I get the short end of the stick? [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

Also, does the cost of shipping contribute? Say the item is $40 and the shipping is $10, am I qualified to save $10? Or does the auction item have to end at $50+?

I have always wondered about why they had a space for coupon codes on Paypal when paying for an auction. Now I see them.

I cannot imagine that the seller does not receive the full amount. Otherwise, why use paypal at all? You'd already be paying EBAY fees as the seller, I wouldnt want to give extra $ away because of PayPal.

The item I just bought was $50 BIN, with free shipping. The seller received the FULL $50 (well, less the usual paypal fee), but paypal only took $40 from my paypal account.
