i think they bash on mccarver, too, which is nice. i'm with ya on the rangers guys. to me, they just yammer on and on and on. during the series with the sox, they would not stop talking about the pine tar on the helmet thing that manny, trot, and a few others do. they need to understand that it's okay to shut up and just call the fuckin' game. egads.

shef also needs to stfu. the guy's a great, great hitter, but the more i read from him, and the more i hear him talk shit, the more i just can't stand that guy. talking shit about how they have to protect their crown jewel, e-rod this weekend was just yawn inspiring. anyone see johnny damon sitting in the dugout next to slappy and chatting away? i was a little surprised, but then again, these guys are like co-workers from different departments, and i highly doubt that the players feel the same way as the fans do when the rivalry topic comes up. granted, they feel the fans intensity, but i don't think that papi has a yankees suck sticker on his car like i do. i love sheff, he plays hurt, and he produces. he wants to win in new york, i wouldn't want to be traded either. him and probably 3 other yankees are gonna get plunked mr. solo.

so do alot of players. look at johnny; he's got a rotator cuff injury, whiplash, and he's having a carreer year. yeah he had some diarrhea of the mouth regarding schill going to the bullpen, but i don't think you'd hear him talking shit about purposely tanking if he doesn't get an offer he likes. look at kevin millar; the guy's always looking over his shoulder and you don't hear him saying shit in the press like "you better play me or you'll be sorry!" i respect that gary sheffield is dangerous behind the plate, but even if he were on the sox, i'd still have no respect for the guy.

i'm sure it's also a little easier to play hurt when you've got barry's trainer sending you care packages.

everything is magnified in new york. i like that comment that he said. he wants to be a yankee. it's the lack of that attitude that has the yanks at the worst record we've had at the all star break in a long time. how about david wells? wells hasn't really been what i'd expected as far as being mouthy. he recently said something about the whole kenny rogers thing, but that's all i can really think of.

as far as magnifying things, boston is no different than new york. i'd wager that boston is probably more magnified, but i'm sure that others can chime in on this.

which comment are you referring to tommy? shef's "don't trade me" tirade? i dunno man, that was nothing but a childish tantrum in my book. suck it up, meat; you'll go wherever they send you. that's the game. if you don't wanna be trade bait, play better.

by the way, there's a killer show on hbo tonite at 9 on mickey mantle. if that guy didn't hurt his knee on that drainpipe in his rookie year, who knows what his numbers would have been. he was a tough motherfukker i tell ya. too many late nights, and you don't go to heaven(black crowes)

he would be a huge cancer in the clubhouse to whatever team he was traded to. i know that, but he wants to win, and he knows they should have not let that get away from them last year. he has got something to prove and wants to make up for it after the collapse of the century.

I'd say Boston and NY are pretty equal where the media pricks are concerned. They can definitely turn on the Yankees just as quick as Boston media on the Sox. Sox is a smaller atmosphere and it gets a bit to in the players face sometimes though.

i twisted a fatty last weekend, and made the mistake of watching the news for the first 10 minutes of it. i couldn't believe all the scumbag things taking place. it was back to espn classic right away.
