Bettman tried to run this league like it was the NBA. He diluted the leagues talent pool by putting in teams all over the place, and in a lot of places the teams have no draw, therefore began a lot of the financial troubles the NHL has been dealing with the last few years.

overall... the nhl under his leadership has not grown... the lost season should be a nail in his coffin. [img]/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img]

Are you sure the league hasn't grown under his direction? Expansion teams and the increased television exposure in the USA alone is enough to convince me he's done a few things right.

The lost season can not be blamed on Bettman alone. My opinion only, of course.

PA screwed themselves, they should taken hte deal right before they canceled the season.

The conditions should be that both Bettman and Goodenow have to get the boot. I took more of the League stance on the whole deal instead of the PA's

Gonna be a different NHL when it starts....bring it on! I'm ready.

t.v. ratings haven't grown... more teams less money for teams(big market small market teams)... never created a rules committee to help the flow of the game(left wing lock)

Try living without ESPN. Whatever little they had they lost after ESPN droped them. I wonder what the fok they are going to do now?

i actually think they have a untapped gold mine in nbc... they have cnbc, msnbc, and nbc and a contract. and nbc has the winter olympics. they have a chance...

the ratings have been the same for the last 12 years on espn and espn2... not much to talk about, so in my eyes there is no growth. [img]/images/graemlins/popcorn.gif[/img]

I think you are right Shawn, the geniuses at the NHL are going back to ESPN and will probably ask, what will it take to get back in the air with you guys. ESPN will proceed to shub up and have their way with them.
