To show "A" game on Saturday afternoons!?
Football can get away with ONE day programming and one game on Mon night because it is football. Only 16 games, heck of a TV contract, massive stadiums, yada yada yada.

The NHL needs constant showing, at least 4-5 televised semi-national games a week. You know one or two must see national broadcasts and a few area specific games. They just don't have the corporate support, stadiums to supplement income and marketing/merchandise machine the NFL and for that matter the NBA have.

A deal with NBC is as good as shrinking the blue line by 1/16".

Yeah just heard the terms on the radio.....glad it is coming back but if your an NHL player right now your looking for the number of the truck that just ran you over.And no more Red line weeeeeeeee overtime gets some funky new rules as well.But as has been said just glad it is getting worked out.

yeah the NBC deal as I remember it was for sort of like ABC's was...handful of day games (its a night sport people) and the playoffs. That isn't enough television coverage if you ask me. They need an ESPN type of deal.

The NBC deal if it happens it would be like, "lets take this thing, it is better than nothing" kind of thing.

There is nothing better than sitting down during a weeknight, tired after work and just relax watching a kick ass hockey game. Of course, commentated by Gary Thorne and Bill Clement.

Don't take this the wrong way, but I've got a life that doesn't include hockey. When I read the paper, the sports section comes right out...and I don't read it. The only games I watch for Baseball and Football are the play off games, and the end games.

I've watched hockey a few times, and I liked what I saw, but I've just never gotten into it...I don't mean like, it's not good, it's just, I've never said "hockey at 5, got to be there".

I generally don't watch TV, because I'm never in the "cave", I'm always busy.

So now...wtf did happen?

I like the guy out of Jersey, I think he's in Jersey, Mike Emerick. He did the weekend games on ABC. He called a water polo match during the olympics and he made it interesting. I think he does baseball from time to time as well.

I am Dave Strader fan as well when he called the game with Mickey Redmond on Pass Sports. He was with ESPN for a while and I think the season that wasn't he was suppose to call games for the Florida Panthers.
