Re: Hysterical beer reviews

I've never been one for mixing stuff into my beer, although I do like a slice of lemon or lime in a Corona on a hot day. Some of those ideas deserve further investigation! Bit surprised the good ol' Depth Charge isn't on there.

My personal favorite is a pint of stout with a shot of Kahlua added.

Re: Hysterical beer reviews

I don't necessarily agree with all of his reviews, but I give him credit. He knows what he likes. He's only reviewed a handfull of beers so far, so give him a chance, I'm sure he'll get around to others.

Me, I'm a true beer lover. I've probably tried 400 or so different beers. They weren't all great, but I managed to find something enjoyable about most of them. There are probably only a half dozen I tried that I really hated.

One thing I've noticed, is that Polish, Russian, and Ukranian beers, all seem to be very similar. They have nice communist looking labels, but the beer itself is forgettable, a bland pilsner type beer, not unlike most well-known American beers.

So far, the only countries that seem to make consistently decent beers, are Britain, Belgium, Germany, and Holland. Granted, Canada and the U.S. have a slew of microbrews that will knock you socks off, but it seems the masses are only interested in their watery Coors Light, or Bud.

German beers are the best, hands down. And the problem that guy had with the Guiness was he drank bottles. Guinness is best on tap. But it is one of the few beers that tastes better out of the can rather than the bottle.

Boddingtons tastes better out of the can too. But only when poured into a glass. It has an actuator in the top of the can to simulate pouring from a tap, but it doesn't work if you're sipping directly from the can. Found that out after I'd not enjoyed about half the can. I mean, who reads the instructions on a can of beer?

Re: Hysterical beer reviews

I do have a question,
Why do all Canadian beers taste like skunk?
I have tried moosehead, labats, molsen, lowenbrau(brewed in canada), and when Kirin Ichiban went to canada, it picked up the funk.

I am not trying to slag Canadian beer, but it is noticable. I was thinking it may have something to do with repeated warming/cooling while being shipped.

LOL maybe that's a Kansas thing. When I lived there it was either Fat Tire or microbrews.

My favorite Yuengling Lager not in this review? Hope he's not finished with his research.

I think my buddy did a masters at FSU on this topic

I've always liked this review of Steel Reserve:

Steel Reserve: Holy fucking shitballs! This malt liquor weighs in at around 8% alcohol, the result of a new trend in the business of ghetto brewing known as “High Gravity.” As far as we can tell, this means that it contains less water, and more of the stuff that makes you beat up your mom because you can’t find your cigarettes.
Don't forget the corn. It's nutritious, delicious, and ribbed for her pleasure.

I had never seen Yuengling until I went to the Northeast this spring. It's great stuff, all I drank while I was in NJ,NY, and PA.

Tecate is pretty aweful, even with lime IMO, but Dos XX (add lime) and Dos XX Amber are pretty good.

My domestic likes are Michelob and Sam Adams.

Microbrews - eh I dunno, I change my mind all the time on those.

Guilty Pleasure is Lone Star with BBQ.

C'mon guys, a black and tan (Bass and Guiness) aint so bad as mixing goes, it's the only thing I'd consider.
