• DUDEFUCKINGHELLYA!!!!!!! Seattle Reveiw

Littlelate from saturday night, but I left my ca5rd reader at work so, here we go..

This show was in a basement in the U distric here in seattle, didn't really pay attention to the 1st band and Nux- Vomica closed, they were really good, but DUDEFUCKINGHELLYA stole the show even with some of the worst pa problems I've ever seen. Kai their singer had to stop every song and play with the PA which prevented Ace and everyone to get in to the "Groove" but they were loud as hell and Ace can Fucking Play, The VHT sounds killer!! But their Drummer Alex is Freaking amazing, 2 thumbs Up. They were all cool people too, Got to help unload and load gear and just sit and talk shop with all of them and them talking about their touring stories. We also had the Fire Breathing compition too.. Here are some Pics

    Adam their Bass Player

    Ace

    Kai

And Ace with his playing face

Wow, that really is a basement. I thought that the word "basement" was just a figure of speach in Seattle.
The pics look cool. Explain this "basement gig" thing.
I just can't grasp the concept. Why would a band want to play in somebody's basement? Jeez, and I used to complain about playing at CBGB's.
If DUDEFUCKINGHELLYA is touring don't they have a soundman? It sucks when you have PA problems and no sound guy.

It was a basement, I guess they hold shows there all the time, 50 people $5 a head. I guess this was the 2nd Basement they played on this tour. Weird but cool

It all starts in a basement..or a garage..or other "any place will do" spot. But it only gets as big a gig as you wanna go.
                Looks like it was fun...

                  Re: DUDEFUCKINGHELLYA!!!!!!! Seattle Reveiw

I'm very bummed that I couldn't make this but I got caught in Olympia the whole day / night. Ended up doing a BBQ down there and the people I drove with ended up staying a lot longer than I expected.

JG - The whole basement gig thing, I believe, is a reaction of sorts to the 90's grunge craze where all bands that weren't fitting within the rock cookie cutter had to basically go completely underground and play house parties. In Seattle (especially downtown) a lot of the houses have thin walls (making a band playing just inside a very difficult thing, but they have basements, so they throw the gigs down in the basement and load it up. Now a days, the basement gig is a little less popular, since most of the venues will open their arms to just about anyone. I've been to 3 basement gigs, but never played one myself. The last one I went to was to see "The Sheep" (local punk band) and "The Huntingtons" (I think from Orange county) in a basement in Everett playing at someone's birthday party. It was pretty sweet since the show was free. Huntingtons made like $300 from Merch sales that night (and their stuff was priced REALLY low), pretty much every person left buying 2 or 3 different things.

The ammo boxes hold aces Strings, picks and such. Also we stuck the pipe on the Magnet, Ace was pretty stoaked about that, kept playing with it

I remember having 'basement' gig's in the early 80's. For $5 you got in to see 4-5 bands (punk of course) and drank beer all night. The only problem, these gigs always turned out to be a sausage fest

The photos look awesome, looks like it was a great show!! I would love to have a basement show sometime, but no one in NC has a basement, so usually we have house shows here.
