• Re: Dust Off - Another tragic tale of a dead moron

I don't think anyone said or believes that smoking causes cancer 100% of the time, but it can definately be a contributing factor as well as contributing to all kinds of other health and respiratory problems. Yes, other things cause it hence the fact that kids and people who don't smoke/chew tobacco can get it as well. Hell, pets and animals have gotten cancer and I doubt they smoke too much . There is no fool proof way to not get it, but why throw gasoline into the fire?

FWIW, I'm glad your mother is cancer free now. That is great news and I do wish her good health and a long happy life.

Celibate by choice, but not impotent, and I will have children, and they'll be smarter than a lot of other people's kids.

Because there's no fire to throw gasoline into - God's promise to her is that her cancer will not return, and that includes smoking.

Newc, no ethical doctor is going to tell you her lung cancer absolutely didn't come from smoking. Colon cancer, yes; lung cancer, no. Somebody is lying, maybe your mom becasue she doesn't want to hear it from you?You don't believe pot is psychoactive, but believe God personally told your mom it's okay to smoke? Well, you are a 36-year-old guy whop still lives with his mom and dad, so maybe you do believe that, but anyone credulous would not. It's also quite hypocritical to speak of God and present yourself as Christian, yet have no pity for a teenaged kid whose own school covered up an epidemic of dustoff abuse. Christ said love thy neighbor as thyself; you show little to none of that in your posts, man. Your overall tone is closer to a fundamentalist Muslim than a Christian. Seems like deep down you want to kill someoneor something... I too am glad your mom is now cancer-free, but if she keeps smoking I bet it will come back. I hope not, but I bet so...

Bet all you want, but you'll lose every time.
Your Mother may lie to you about her relationship with God, but I was there at the beginning of it, and no one here. Credibility has nothing to do with it. I saw God's Work first-hand - the work that He did in my Mother's life and in my family's life, and there has never been nor will there ever be anyone put on this Earth who knows more about what has happened in my life than me. Period.
I got no love for the Church either, which is why I avoid it. God doesn't live in a Church, and He doesn't come out only on Wednesdays and Sundays. He's open 24/7/365+ and doesn't care how I dress or what I listen to or what I watch on TV and isn't concerned about The Church-house Social Club.
But I guess that's too fantastic for anyone to understand - it's easier to believe that I'm an inbred close-minded whacko because I don't share the herd mentality

And yes I live with my parents. They're not rich, neither am I, but we live in an area where quality housing options are few and overpriced, while crack-alley motel-rooms-by-the-month they call apartments are renting out for $450-$750 a month, and the average rent on a house is as much as a monthly house payment.
And yes, I contribute to the household expenses, despite the gear whoring I do.

As for not having sympathy for the kid WHO KNEW BETTER, again, why should I? Explain it in logical terms, not just "well, one day you'll have a kid and THEN you'll know" - that's a cop-out, not an explanation. Put it in rational terms without the emotional drama. You guys are the ones that are always going ga-ga over physical, logical, scientific explanations for everything rather than metaphysical/intangible powers, so why now is there suddenly this "mystical knowing and understanding" just because you have a kid?

"Credibility" indeed
