I feel bad for this guy for 2 reasons. 1st, obviously because his kid died. But secondly, because he is so naive to think that having a drug sniffing dog, and having his wife pester and nag the kids every day about drugs, will actually stop them from doing drugs. Wake the fuck up guy. In my experience, the kids with the stricter parents, were the ones who rebelled the hardest. I knew this guy Sheldon in high school who was a couple of years younger than me. He was a super nice guy, very soft spoken, and never said a bad word about anyone. We only ever saw him at school. As it turned out, it's because his parents wanted to keep him away from bad influences. For his 18th birthday, they booked him a party at Chuck E Cheese's. I'm not joking. The poor guy was obviously embarassed. Anyway, to cut a long story short, he somehow convinced his parents to let him go away to University. He was like a time bomb waiting to go off. Sheldon died 3 weeks after the first semester started from alcohol poisoning/cocaine overdose. Apparently, either one would have killed him. No one else said anything, but I personally think he might have done it on purpose.

I had a buddy in High School like that. He would do anything from huffing paint to sniffing glue. One time he sniffed some glue and the vapors hardened is his nose and had to be removed and he will never smell again. He learned his lesson ?? No, he was right back at it in no time.

See, this is what I just don't get about drugs. Ok, the hard stuff like coke and meth and heroin and acid and all that shit I never did, but I smoked a few joints in my teens. I never intentionally huffed, but I didn't mind hanging out when someone was spray painting something. I was also on of the ones (just like most of you older guys were) who sniffed the smell off a paper in school that was run on an ink/roller-based copier (that purplish ink that smelled great).
I also felt cheated when my school got a photocopier - no more "treats" [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

But aside from the pleasant odors of paint and ink, I got no "rush" or "high" out of it (at least nothing that was as noticeable as a buzz or loss of mental focus). For weed specifically, all I ever got was light-headed.
Now, I know the die-hard potheads will never agree with this, but here's the real scoop on getting high from weed.

How do you smoke weed?
Step 1: Take a hit/puff/drag
Step 2: Hold it for as long as you can
Step 3: Repeat until your supply is gone, you're cut off, you pass out, your Mom/Dad gets home, or you are too light headed to take another hit.

Now try replacing Step 1 with just taking a deep breath without the joint, then proceed to Steps 2 and 3.
Same effect, without spending money.

It's not the THC in your system, it's the Oxygen Deprivation. That's what relaxes you. That's what puts your mind in such a "mellow" state that you can spout profound philosophy. You get so relaxed that your internal barriers are taken down and you don't have any mental blocks that keep your thoughts under control and you say whatever pops into your head.
All the weed does is burn up, and the unfiltered smoke causes you to cough and your lungs to get really hot, as well as coat your mouth and fingers/roach clip/hitting stone/pipe with resin.
You're paying someone to sell you a bag of something that does nothing to contribute to your "high".

But like I said, you smokers know all about it cuz you read it in a book that depends on a loyal smoker following (High Times) or heard about some study done by some University "experts" that either deal it or smoke it themselves, and even if you tried it without a joint you'd swear it was latent chemicals embedded in your system, and had absolutely nothing to do with Oxygen Deprivation [img]/images/graemlins/eyes.gif[/img]

So to anyone who says it's the weed, smoke it like a cigarette instead. You will NOT get the same feeling, you'll just burn it up faster.

Now, coke, yeah you snort it, it goes straight to your blood system and brain through your upper respiratory system.
Heroin is a direct injection into your bloodstream, and again, to your brain.
Meth - whatever you do with it (snort it? smoke it? eat it?) it goes into your bloodstream and to your brain.
Those are all chemicals that have been processed with other chemicals to turn them into drugs.
While you do get some stimulation from gnawing on coca leaves directly (where you get cocaine and chocolate from), that's because it goes straight into your system, however, it takes a great deal of coca leaves as well as the other chemicals to equal one line of coke.

Smoke/chemicals from weed doesn't enter your bloodstream in the same or even relative amounts as anything else, and it doesn't stay in your system as long, though the average time is 7-10 days - sometimes more depending on your metabolism/immune system. No one can hold it in their system for a year, much less the often-rumored 7 years, because the body regenerates itself from the inside out constantly, flushing out toxins and other foreign agents. It doesn't say "hey, weed! we like weed, let's extract the Happy Juice from it and store it over here", it flushes it out.

Oxygen Deprivation is also at the root of huffing/dusting/freon-sucking whatever the hell they wanna call it this week, so the message that needs to be spread to these kids is not "Don't Do Drugs" as much as it is "Holding your breath for as long as you can as many times as you can gives you the same effect as huffing/dusting/toking, so don't huff/dust/toke, because huffing and dusting can kill you, toking will land your ass in jail, and you're throwing away good money for something that doesn't do jack shit to contribute to the high that you can't do on your own".

Yeah I totally disagree with you. First off, there is no point holding it in for as long as you can. That's what misinformed teenagers do. When you inhale marijuana smoke, any THC that is going to make it into your system does so within 3 seconds. All you do by holding it in, is make yourself dizzy, like you said. I do smoke my weed like a cigarette, I inhale deeply, but I certainly don't hold it in. So sorry to blow your silly theory out of the water. [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

well like God to some.....weed makes me feel "euphoric" and warm and happy, and when in a real bad mood ...IT WILL take the edge off..

and THC also reduces my pain and makes me more tolerable to that pain...which makes me more tolerable with people..

you see I equate myself with the Tazmanian Devil...The Taz is a ferocious little beast because he is in constant torment and agony of very vicious fleas...and the only relief the poor animal gets is when it's sleeping..

well my pain and "people" in general are my "fleas"...which always makes me very vicious..

Weed helps that...and solitude....away from the "fleas"...

Hey Newc, I did assume you were joking, unless you really don't know the kind of high you get from real weed. Maybe when you smoked it, you were smoking oregano, and holding it in for as long as you could, etc.

Certain types of weed we refer to as "creeper", simply because you smoke a joint, and you think to yourself: wow, that was crappy weed, I didn't even get a buzz. So you go about your business, and 15-20 minutes later you go: holy christ, I'm fucked up!!!

I love weed. I'm very passionate about weed. I like smoking it. I like the smell. I like being high. I like the social aspect of passing a joint arount. I also like smoking a bowl by myself. Weed takes the edge off and it changes experiences. It's like you watch a movie twice, and it starts to get boring. Smoke a joint and it becomes a whole new experience. I believe you should experience everything twice in life: once straight, once high. [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]
