I find it funny that Matt thinks there is a significant difference between pot, and cocaine, and opiates, because one is a plant and the others are (ahem) chemicals. Just because pot is usually smoked does not in any way lead a logical person to believe that it is an imaginary high. THC is as much a chemical as the narcotic ingredient in opium, which comes from poppies. Opium and cocain are also smoked. Does that mean opium and cocaine don't get you high either?

I feel like I'm wasting my time trying to explain this, but honestly, why would I waste money on something that does nothing? I have smoked pot for long enough that I think it's pretty safe to say I can back up what I say with experience.

Well, Matt's probably not getting any good weed in rural Tennessee! I can testify from 25 years of experience smoking weed, a lot of it good Humboldt green when I lived in California, we are NOT talking about a placebo effect.
And cocaine and heroin both derive from plants too, so that blows that aspect of your theory. Your anecdotal experience may mean nothing more than your connections had bunk weed! I myself had no idea what the good shit was until I moved to California. Not that I didn't get high on Mississippi weed, but it was smoking a few joints versus taking a couple of one-hits on the bong and being blasted.
I actually had no idea that kind of buzz was coming from what I'd been used to before, so how could a placebo effect occur there? To the Californians I smoked with it was just the ordinaqry good shit, so it wasn't like someone said "Hold onto your hat!"; you're absolutely wrong on this one and are really losing some cred by standing by your story. I have done everything except injection and heroin, so I am pretty well-versed, especially on weed. I don't smoke it anymore because it's gotten so much stronger through breeding for potency that the good shit just makes me too stupid to function. I can't just take that one toke and have my buzz, I love the taste, and 4-5 hits later I'll be wasted. Then I'm useless for 2-4 hours and muzzy for a day. So I quit it even though I love it, because it's too effective. No placebo effect, my friend. You could smnoke a joint of Humboldt green and you couldn't get off the couch. You've just had dirt weed which isn't that strong,
you could claim placebo on that even though it does work.

Years ago I found a friend dead at his apt from huffing freon. He was on probation and had already failed a UA once, but just had to get high. It was his own dumb misfortune, but it really fucked his family up. His mom couldnt get over it and his dad couldnt handle her reliving it every day. They ended up getting a divorce and the mother died from a stroke due to complications of diabetes and letting herself go from the grief. This is alway the way around bad for all involved. I dont feel sorry for them, but I do feel very sad for all everyone who will or has had to deal with this.

But when I was still a Diving instructor, and was doing pool training, neither I nor my students ever got high from holding their breath... and after 2:37 seconds I think the high would be very noticable, but I can´t recall anything... No, I stand by that. You can NEVER admit you are wrong Matt. I have seen it in thread after thread. You can't bring yourself to admit that you are wrong about something that you quite obviously know nothing about. You are a cool dude Matt, but you are beaten on this one and you can't accept it. Quite sad really, although not surprising. It is a natural reaction for people to shun what they don't understand. I would never do to my guitars, the things that you do, but i certainly wouldn't call you wrong for it. It's your choice.. bottom line.
