I don't know why you're so stubborn Matt. Honestly, thinking that THC does nothing, when it is scientifically recognized as a drug, well, that's just ludicrous. Never mind the fact that you've got a bunch of regular users on here testifying to the fact that yes, it does in fact get you high. We're not high school kids here dude.

Superfly and everyone else are right, Matt. You're a cool guy and I enjoy your posts a lot, but you are dead wrong here and you can't take the correction with grace. You are not the only intelligent person posting on this board and when you dig your heels in on something that is so factual there is NO room for opinion, you just hurt your own cred.

Your placebo theory on weed is wrong. Period. Be a man and take it like a man, and move on. We will think more of you for admitting it.

BTW, the world? Round, not flat! LOL

First it is not just "people' we are tallking aobut here, it is a 14 year child who was lead a stray. Not some dumba** who strapped a rocket to his car and flew into a wall ( Darwin winner )

I feel for this kid, the life he had robbed from him, the lives he may have touched.

Any parent that has lost a child for the same type of reason would be very offended by your statement.

Common misconception. They are not the same plant, or we would have a lot of problems at the Hershey plants. We'd get retarded little shirts at Hot Topic saying "Hershey Employee" and all the poser bullshit that they can't help but crank out as fast as a thirteen year old's first ejaculation.

Newc is probably one of those people that just isn't affected by weed. Newc, what you might try doing is video taping yourself on weed. You may be one of those people that notice very little about themselves but are really totally fucked up. Trust me on this one, if you are one of those people you will NEVER believe it until you see yourself on tape.

As for me, I've never smoked weed but I'm sensitive to the contact highs . I actuallly don't know that it's affecting me until I step out of the room and get a breath of fresh air, and then I realize "Whoa! I'm in somebody else's house!" The last time I was around it, I thought we were in the basement of some other friend's house. I'd totally forgotten that we'd gone over to the other guy's house until we stepped outside. I'd better not smoke weed first hand, I can't imagine what it would do to me!

Newc, this is really in bad taste.

You obviously don't have children. I am sure that if you did, you would feel differently and wouldn't post such a heartless and callous preface to this post. Your hubris is stunning.

When I was a teenager I did plenty of stupid things, and I am glad that I survived those years, to be honest.

This is a tragedy, plain and simple. A child has lost his life for doing something stupid. A family is devastated. It is not something to smugly post up as evidence of your occupying some imagined plateau of morality.

Maybe if Karma is on your side, you can enjoy a loss like this at some point in your life.

Re: Dust Off - Another tragic tale of a dead moron

The sad part of this kid's story is that the school knew it was the new trend but kept its mouth shut because it didn't want to let on there was a problem. Had someone told that kid that the duster could displace oxygen in his lungs and suffocate him, he might not have
used it. I can understand why the father, being a cop and having a retired drug dog, may have felt secure that his kid couldn't get conventional drugs in and out of the house, or even come in smelling of it, figuring the dog would catch it. Yeah you can say he should've been aware of huffing substances, but it sounds like dusting spray wasn't even on the police radar in their town, until it was too late for this officer. So I do have sympathy for the kid; he didn't deserve to die, and I'm sure all his friends thought it was harmless, so that's what he thought too. In the 80s we thought the same about nitrous oxide, laughing gas. It's safe as can be, as long as you have oxygen mixed in proportionally. No oxygen, you get deaths. I remember reading of several in the paper in the late 80s-early 90s.

Read what I said about and the other reactions to your own post, bro.... Telling us all of our arguments are BS before any of them are even stated, assuming all knowledge of it comes from biased sources, and showing NO attempt at all to reason or acept differing standpoints, even when coming from people that most obviously HAVE concerned themselves with this topic far more in depth than you could ever imagine, either personally or thruough multiple sources of information, biased BOTH ways and unbiased...

We´re at least OPEN to discussion and trying to figure out where you have these ideas from, wheras you show none of qualities of a person prepared for a senseful and civilised discussion... For you everything we say is BS before we even say it... Seems to me lilke our words are, as I expected, significantly more in vain than yours...

I said exactly this with different words about 2 days ago, and I stand by that more than ever, as well as questioning your motives, Discussion can´t have been one of them with this approach, provocation on the other hand lies near...

In other words: If you can´t admit to there even being a possibility of you being wrong, you shouldn´t be in a discussion with civilised and rational adults... That´s my personal opinion, from one ADD Kid to another

What's wrong with Newc saying that? It's okay for Bill or someone else to say something like that in other threads, but it's not for him? I also don't feel much sympathy for the kids who die trying to get high with inhalants because they think it's cool. Sure, it's a tragedy, but one that could have been avoided.

Thanks Toe

MBreinin:
Why should I have any sympathy for the kid? I said I felt for the parents and family (gramma/grampa, aunts/uncles, brothers, etc), but the kid KNEW he wasn't supposed to be doing it because he was sneaking around doing it, and then lying when asked about the missing 3-pack.
The kid deserved it, regardless of whether or not he thought or was told that it's not the same as huffing paint/Right Guard/etc.

Perhaps if the kid had a bit more sense than to chase a high his friends told him about, he may have mentioned to his parents that some kids at school were discussing it (without saying straight out WHO said to try it). THEN the parents could research it to at least read the label of the can, and would have some kind of base to stand on when they drilled the kid for names and details once they found out it was and oxygen-displacement-high.

But no, he chased it, he caught it, he earned it.

Before you try beating the odds, make sure you can survive the odds beating you.

And how would I possibly "deserve" to be in this same situation simply because I don't have any sympathy for the kid? Because he's a kid? A wee lad? A baby?
He was old enough to know better and fully accountable for his own actions in this event. His Dad was a cop who discussed drugs with him. He knew that huffing was bad, and he knew that if you can't do it at the dinner table, you shouldn't be doing it.

Zerb - Bottle some THC then. Everyone else does it with everything else.
I want to depart this world the same way I arrived; screaming and covered in someone else's blood
