God created Adam and Eve, and they had Cain and Abel, but those two are the only children mentioned. Cain took a wife in the land of Nod, which was some distance away.
Adam and Eve were not the only people on the earth - they were the first ones to till the earth (plant crops). All the others picked berries and were hunter/gatherers.

It's all right there in Genesis.
