Yep. Drove right in to a ditch, up the ditch and smacked a tree. Total write off. His brother - a lawyer - was behind him in his car to collect the hockey gear while they waited for the cops.

I salute anyone who fucks the insurance industry. I don't know if you remember, about 2 months ago, I posted I was in a wreck. Fuckers were supposed to pay, one hour later they call back, and pretty much say I'm fucked.

John, I was so proud of my father for that. This happened in 1985 and he didn't tell me the whole story until 1994, just before he died. He was the most straight laced dude in the world - PhD, two Masters Degrees, very successful, but this smell was more than he could take and no amount of money was fixing it...well, I guess his $250 collision deductible fxed it. First I'm really sorry about your Dad passing.
Secondly -I'm still laughing about that Jimmy. "Cat piss, the smell is enough to drive the most noble and intelligent men temporarily insane"
I can picture your dad suiting up in full hockey gear to go take care of the cat piss smell in the vehicle....lol

Declawing is one of the most inhumane things you can do to a cat. It's the equivalent of amputating your fingers at the last digit. Why exactly is it that domestic cats should be declawed?
[/ QUOTE ]
It's not like what it sounds. They get along just fine without them, as long as they are fed catfood. If they're mousers, this isn't something that should be done. The claws do grow back as well. Domestic cats should be declawed regularly anyway to avoid this kind of thing anyway. They don't know that they're hurting anything, yet it's quite destructive, the whole point to this thread.
The solution? RESPONSIBLE PET OWNERSHIP.
A responsible pet owner would get the cat declawed.

Uhhh, declawed regularly???
Claws do not grow back once a cat has been "declawed". Hence the term. Shawn is right, it is the equivalent of you losing your finger at the first knuckle. Trust me, your fingernail ain't coming back if the part of the finger that it grew on is amputated.

Yep, plus, if they are even "occasional" outside cats, how do you expect them to defend themselves? Claws aren't there to scratch cars or furniture, they are a defense mechanism.

Where are you getting your info!!??!!?? They are trying to push it, that declawing is cruelty to animals. The claws don't come back. Owners do it, because thier leather sofa is too fucking important.
You know, just after I first posted on this thread, I went downstairs to my living room. My living room is almost like a bachelor pad. I've got a big screen, a lazy boy (and for furniture that's it) some framed pictures on the wall, but most importantly, a bunch-o-guitar shit.
I keep my Marshall JCM900 Lead 1960 4x12, with Mesa Boogie Triple Rectifier (the Boogie is in a road case) facing the wall. There is a padded bag (fx pedals) beside it, and another bag on top of the road case with shit in it (cables and such).
Oh, I do have a chair with no arms (guitar players will know why) my Line 6 and some other shit.
Long story short, the reason my cab (and even the one in the other room) face the wall, is because cats like to claw that shit. Imagine my expression, when I noticed, the back corner (that would mean, the back of the cabinet, corner) had a rip in it, and a few scratches to the side of it...
Yeah, one of my cats made a scratch on my cab. Did I shoot the cat? Hell no. I got some glue, sealed it so it doesn't spread, and have been looking for cheap cabinet covers/road case for my cab.
The cat, WON'T be getting declawed, shot, fed anti-freeze, fire crackers up its ass, or any other, sick serial killer minded treatment.
None of my cats are declawed either...nor will they ever be. My couch has a few scratches, the Crate has a ding or 2, but I've discovered double sided clear sticky tape keeps them off anything....adjustments I make for my "kids". Do you not "kidproof" your home, or did you amputate their hands when they touched things they shouldn't?

No, we just shoot anything that is stupid, and if it's stupid enough to live, we nurse it with anti-freeze.

Key word there. Your cat destroyed your shit and you don't think that's even worthy of a trip to the vet to have the cat declawed. Bravo, I think we're all fine with that.
However, you let that cat out and it goes screetching down the hood of my car, claws extended, a few times and you won't have to worry about it scratching up your stuff again. Be a responsible cat owner and keep it inside and everyone's happy.

I keep my cat inside. What about if someone lets the animal out on accident? Is it okay for you to shoot the cat then? If so, when are you going to start eating humans? It's serial killer-istic to harm domestic animals.
However, even the shoot the cat/don't shoot the cat crowds agree, the owner should be responsible for keeping the cat inside. Would it stand up in court to have the owner pay for damages? Probably not, but a walk to the owners house couldn't be that bad.
Someone could come into my house, and if my cat clawed their eyes out, I wouldn't think about getting him declawed. It's not right.
Again though, the people who are for the killing, or against it, agree on one thing, the owner needs to be more responsible.

Yeah, it's not quite the "fingernail clipping" that people seem to think it is. It sucks. If you feel the need to declaw.... DON'T OWN A CAT!!!. I can't believe I'm defending cats here, but I am against unnecessary cruelty and declawing is just plain cruel and ignorant. Yes, I own a cat (only because I have a 7 year old daughter ), but it has been explained to her why we will never declaw kitty. If it were up to me, we'd have a dog, but oh well. Claws don't grow back any more than your finger would.
