• Anyone else ever too tired to play after work?

Stupid questions perhaps but...

Am I the only one that comes home after a long and hard days work and does not feel like picking up one of my many Charvels?

I do feel guilty but I am so damm tired and my fingers are so swollen and stiff as well that I just think to myself "ah screw it, I'll play tommorow"

I am a plumber and our company does a lot of construction plumbing. Today for example I spent a few long hours breaking up cement to lay new floor drains.

My hands are so stiff that I barely type this as we speak.

I do feel guilty especially with my new 375 Deluxe just a few feet away but....

Anyone else have days like this

i lose lots of money all day, and it takes it's toll mentaly and physicaly, and the only thing that has kept me from doing something really stupid is playing my new 0old strathead charvels. i kind of liked playing numb a lot better but i'm getting used to playing again quicker than i thought.i'm beat to shit when i get home but i always plug in now even if for only an hour, i have alot to get back, so i want to get my playing back as opposed to my connections. i make myself pick it up. it sucks though if you have a labor job , i can see why you can't on certain nights.i was like that when i worked construction from 17-22. you just couldn't play somedays.

Work, a guitarists bane. Myself, I have alot, (more than my fair share) of those nights.

Then, I try to think of where I want to be, what I really want to do, and why the hell I was put here.

I come up with the same answer every time; music.
It doesnt work every time, but most times I wind up picking it up for a few hours. I spose "your mileage may vary", but I think it's just like anything in life, if you want something bad enough, you will do whatever you can to get it.

I have been on the same boat for the last 1 1/2 years.
We have a new baby girl (1 1/2 years old) and when I get back from work its play time, feeding time, bath time and bedtime.
Not much more after that. Whenever baby amd Mommy go to the mall, papa can play and have a good 'ol time.
I miss being able to play every day and sometimes get downright angry.

Then I see my beautiful baby girl's eyes and everything is allright in the world. I'll find time someday.

I'm just the opposite. I work 2nd shift and get home around midnight. I spend a little time with the little wife and then when she goes to bed I'm playing for 45 mins to an hour. Sometimes I'll fire the amp up for about 30 mins when I first get home. Either way, I play just about every night.

It happens. Sometimes, I'll be thinking that I'm so tired, all I want to do is pick up the guitar. But then, I pick it up and I'm too tired to think of anything to play...

No, I teach guitar for a living so when I come home I've already gotten some good playing time in....then it's just a matter of grabbing a bite to eat and I'm ready to play for myself at home.

I used to be like that. Still am, and when I start school, it's gonna be worse which sucks. Go to school, go to work, come home n study, then do it again. Gonna have to make a serious schedule, I'm dreading it cause I recently started writing my own stuff too

Sounds like me. There are times when I play hardly at all, then some days I am able to play an hour or two and write new stuff and do some homerecording and shit.

same here. Some nights I'm just hanging to pick up a guitar when I get a moment to myself, but the hands just don't want to play. So I'll sit with the guitar in my lap for a few hours while I watch tv. So I'm not playing, but I'm still getting in some quality time with my guitar.

I know how you feel,Ninja.I am a maintenance mechanic in a steel forge shop.My current"project" is the removal of an obsolete furnace that is about the size of a small school bus.It is next to our prime production area, and the plant is steam powered.By 11 AM it was 128 degrees where I was working and by the time I get home I am fried.I usually play at least an hour a day,but we have been hovering around 90 degrees with high humidity forever now, lately I have been quite content to come home and bear hug the air conditioner...

Absolutely.

It's been like that for a few years now. I only pick the guitar up for rehearsal and for an occassional play. I don't practice much anymore. I should.

Same here . Rarely have the time and energy . When I do play , it is a quick jam along with something 20-30 minutes .

Married with 4 children and a business . I need to make more time .

I haven't really "practised" in years . I am now depressed

I know exactly how you feel.

I work two jobs right now, i fit and removed fridges within supermarkets for 12 hours sometimes with one job and i wash dishes for 5 - 8 hours at another.

When i get home from either job, my hands are too stiff to even touch a guitar and i'm usually too tired and pissed off to play.
