Respect is earned from every individual. You don't get a "group rate", and you certainly can't buy it in bulk. It's not taken from anyone, it's given to someone.

At one time I thought Jennings was simply "telling it like it is", which is what a reporter is supposed to do - relay the facts to me out here in TV-land with no Salt, no Pepper, and no Sugar - just the facts, Ma'am.
Then I find out he's Anti-American, and proclaiming that America "deserved" the 9-11-01 attacks because of our Middle East Policy (which, in case you forgot, the issue these idiots have with our Mid-East Policy is that our Mid-East Policy does not involve killing the Jews and giving Israel to the Palestinians - read about something called the 6 Day War and learn something new today)

So what, a TV personality with a Pinko-Commie view of America died. Yay. Here's to many more [img]/images/graemlins/toast.gif[/img]

Look, I don't have much of an opinion about Peter Jennings either way. I'm not going to miss him but I'm not glad he's dead either. He was just another human and being happy about another human dying in general is not my thing (this is a general rule for me, there are thousands of exceptions to this rule).

So when I see comments like that it cracks me up and saddens me at the same time. It cracks me up because your post is subtly hypocritical. Being glad when someone dies just because they have differing views on things puts you much closer to what the so-called "Pinko-Commie" stands for than what being an American is all about. The sad thing is that you are not alone in that backwards thinking.

Where do you get your info from? Why did he became a US citizen back in '03 then? It was his mother that was really anti-American.

What every happened to free speech? This is an open catagory here. Are people not free to criticize or disagree or whatever?

It may be in poor taste in some people's views but would you have said the same if someone posted that Hitlor died and there should be no mention of the mans views or life? Think about it.

There is a difference between expressing views, and posting inflamatory remarks for the sake of pushing one's own agenda. Comparing the loss of a news reporter to "Hitlor" dying is apples and oranges. As far as I know Peter Jennings didn't order the extermination of millions of innocent people.

I don't think the admins have a problem with anyone OR their views. They probably have a problem with the way in which some people express them here.

Free speach and being an asshole, for the sake of being an asshole, are 2 very different things. My 2 cents.

Not to change the subject but to explain my own position and what I think people here are reacting to...

In all honesty I feel the same as many people here. God bless him. BUT he was responsible for manipulating a lot of people in this country in terms of political views - thats the bottom line. He did not report the facts and therefore was not a pure journalist. This kind of stuff hurts you and me and our families if you get right down to it.

And people here are pissed that this happens in their country and I can't blame them. (Of course you can blame people for being lazy and not seeking out the truth or other points of view.)

There is a realization and a current awareness in this country about the media and what they are and what they represent. And people are tired of these elites trying to manipulate them.

Again I am not trying to detract from the post but just commenting on people's vehement reaction to the media (and political and corporate) elites.
