I was at Guitar Center today and asked one of the salesmen if they were getting any of the Ivory RR3's. He said they had one a while back but that Jackson usually just sends them the crappy $299 RR1's. I said the JS-30's are the cheap ones and he told me no, the RR1 is the bottom of the line. I bought my strings and micro cube and left.

Re: Guitar Center Geniuses
Thats why I never go there for advise. I do my research first, bring model numbers etc, so all they have to do is get it and let me pay. Imagine, being able to be magically whisked away to... Delaware. Hi... Im in... Delaware...

Never been to one....all I hear is horror stories....maybe I'll look for one in the Baltimore area.....BTW is the Sam Ash store basically the same deal?I live on the edge of danger facing life and death every single day.....then I leave her at home and go disarm bombs.

GCStory:
Yesterday I took a beat up old 20' "Monster Cable Performance Innstrument Cable" that I sniveled from a friend's box of crap in his garage studio.
There was a tear in the rubber casing next to one of the plugs, and some of the copper wire was exposed and broken.
The girl got me a new 21' cable Prolink w/gold plugs.
Price on the register tape she rang up for the "exchange":
$49.95

Re: Guitar Center Geniuses
I didnt trick em....I dont think anyway.
3 weeks ago while the same girl told me to bring em in and echange them if they were damaged.
I brought it in a week later and she was not there. Some salesguy said I needed a GC receipt to echange them. Damn.
Yesterday, I saw her, asked again, and she just shook her head NO, you dont need a receipt.
Me, went out to the truck, where I had left the cable two weeks earlier after the first attempt, and broght it in to her. See the rst above!

Sam Ash is a little better, I know around here they acually do have some knowledgable staff.

Not the Sam Ash that Jack the Riffer would be going to. The one in Raleigh is pitiful. It is without a doubt the most inept large music store I have ever been too. It's just pathetic. Everything about that store sucks ass. The Guitar Center in Raleigh is a sea of wisdom compared to that Sam Ash. And there are actually a couple of really good guys at that GC.I want REAL change. I want dead bodies littering the capitol.

By far the biggest mistake was getting such BS tossed at you as fact but still spending money at that store. By still buying products despite crummy service you only serve top perpetuate that crummy service and run decent shops out of business.... And it´s this way in all industries...
Let´s put it this way: would you buy gas from a "mechanic" that tells you a Ford Pinto is a better car that a Mustang? Probably not... so why do ayou buy axe accessories form a "guitar salesman" that obviously doesn´t know his ass from a hole in the ground?
That´s my rant for today

Re: Guitar Center Geniuses
Maybe its the closest music store? Buying strings is hardly gonna put the "little guy" out of business. I see your point if he bought an amp or guitar though. Myself, I patronize the local music store run by some old dude that seriously knows his shit. He and his brother own it. His brother is a violin guy, he's a guitar guy. He's done work on almost all my guitars. I usually take a new axe to him for setup. He also did the pup replacement and mini switch installation on my Kelly. However alot of people aren't so lucky as to have a great small but knowledgable music store within 10 minutes of their house.

Re: Guitar Center Geniuses
The Knoxville GC has had a Model 3 for several months now, listed at $499.99. It's a Forth Worth model, so of course the hang tag says "American."
