Why is that? What's so "bad" with freedom of the press? IIRC correctly it's a fundamental 1st ammendment right. Don't like the fact that they're reporting 60-70 IED (now, new and improved with shaped charges) attacks per day on our troops? Or that the insurgency is far from it's "last throes" as Cheney described?

What other 1st ammendment rights should we repeal so that reality can be spun to support your view that being in Iraq is a good thing?

I think it's really funny when apologists of our Iraq policy make statements such as "well, now that we're there by mistake, that's where all the terrorists are going to be anyway so it's a good thing that they're all in one place and we only have to do it right once."

Here's a radical thought...perhaps our presence in Iraq is actually INCREASING the number of terrorists not DECREASING them since our presence there is FUELING the growth of NEW terrorist recruits?

"Freedom Of The Press", in case you haven't figured any of this out, is protected only by the US Constitution WITHIN THE BORDERS OF THE UNITED STATES and it will NEVER include coverage of military operations.

Now, as for "why" there should be no media coverage of our troops, the troops do NOT need Geraldo shoving a camera up every G.I.s ass and blasting it live to the ACLU here at home. There's too much that CAN'T be done to WIN this war because someone's afraid it's gonna end up on CNN, and then they'll worry about "world opinion" and how the rest of the world perceives us.

Pulling the troops out is not the answer. Pulling the MEDIA and other non-combatants out IS the answer. That way we can go about leveling mosques and other terrorist hiding places without anyone here proclaiming that our troops are violating some imagined "rights" these people have.

Here's a news flash:
The Constitution of The United States Of America only applies to Citizens of The United States Of America. It does not cover Iraqis in Iraq, Mexicans in Mexico, Chinese in China, or Canadians in Canada.

And yes, I'm sure that our presence in Iraq is causing terrorists to flock from Saudi Arabia, Syria, Iran, Jordan, and Egypt into Iraq. Would you prefer they were flocking into the USA instead? It sounds like it to me.

You are missing a very important point here. I don't think anyone would encourage their son or daughter to go off and fight a war...but I would feel nothing but pride and honor if any of my three sons decide to join the military.
