[ QUOTE ]
Since when does a mother/father have THE RIGHT to know anything about an ADULT child?
I don't quite remember that in the Constitution, nor do I ever remember any of my DIs in boot camp telling me that my mommy had "a right" to know anything I was doing.
[/ QUOTE ]
What is guaranteed by the Constitution is the press' right to report on what your DIs in boot camp are doing. Checks and balances, ya know?
A democratic society in which the citizens vote on the country's course of action by voting on their leaders is dependent on said society being properly informed. That's why our founding fathers specifically wrote the 1st ammendment.
Man, a lot of you guys put way too much faith in an unchecked goverment. Just because we are at war. The framers of our Constitution never had such blind faith in government. That's why the right to bear arms exists in the Constitution as well. Charleton Heston, while he was President of the NRA, said it was the ultimate fail safe right guaranteed by Constitution to keep an elected goverment in check.
