I had never heard of him either, just something I came across on Fark.com. Seemed like one of those surreal internet jokes with a fake page on a fake site to me, but the site looks real enough. Maybe the guy is just delusional?

well if they wait long enough, there will be no need to attack since they'll have the #1 world economy, India 2nd and the US third. We won't have as many friends when there's 2 other dudes that have coolor toys than us. Maybe we'll just give them Puerto Rico and Alaska.

[/ QUOTE ]

I read last week that China and India are teaming up with technology and want to be a giant not be touched by anybody. Predictions are by 2050 they will control more then half of the global market with U.S. 2nd and Europe third.

Yep, so they got a 10 Million Man Army - we've got one bomb that can cut them down to about 20 guys with a serious case of sunburn in 3 seconds, and the good sense to use it.

A good old neutron bomb will end their overpopulation problem lickety split.

You ever hear of Mutually Assured Destruction? It was cold war strategy in the 80's and it's implicit policy with China now. I find it interesting that people here think that such a war is "winnable".

Sure we might "win", then we'll be free to raise our family of kids with 2 heads and gills. Sounds great! Let the missiles fly!

*shrugs* China needs us to buy their goods... look around, notice how much crap you have in your house that was made in china? I'm betting a lot. They are going to take Taiwan back though by force eventually, and we will likely let them. Hopefully the market forces will get them to be a little more open - but if they really wanted to just do a land grab, they would go after russia, not the US.

Re: China will attack US, Canada and Australia?

Better to kill your enemy as you die than to die and let them live. Sure, no one wins, but the point is that if "I" don't win, "You" don't win.
This philosophy presents a stalemate. China knows this. Therefore, there is no real threat of attack because they won't be able to figure out a way to keep us from committing Atomic Suicide if we lose.

"Last one out the door pushes the button"

However, China does pose a real military threat. They're definitely gearing up for "something" as they've got US steel factories jumping to the point that steel prices have gone up. All the steel factories in operation are running at capacity, and are still behind on their orders.
My employer has been shipping thousands of automotive parts to China recently as well.

However, there's one thing China should remember: we sent them food in the middle of the Cold War when they didn't have enough and their people were literally starving to death.
If they still wanna fight after we've extended our aid to them time and again (including opening trade with them), then they have no honor, and deserve to be nuked at the first sign of aggression.

America can't take China in the jungles of Asia, but we've got some serious defoliant that we can lay down first to fight on bare open ground.

Man, so many hawks on this board...

Check out this article...it represents a view from a decorated war veteran who is a REPUBLICAN: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/9032036/

4 years from now, how many of you whose kids will be old enough for the draft* will remain so hawkish? Ooh, you mean supporting war means more than sticking a yellow ribbon magnet on the back of your car? Easy to be a hawk when it's someone else kids**. How many of you would encourage your sons or daughters to be put in harm's way to help fix that mistake in Iraq? If you do have a loved one in harm's way, I pray for God's speed for their safe return, and I support all efforts to keep them safe (money for body armor, etc.). At the same time, I am deeply saddened that they have been needlessly put in harm's way for such a clusterfuck decision.

*of course there is no draft, but the armed services are not meeting their recruiting quotas either, and we are gearing up for more fronts.

**"The most notable thing is that America's elite, our privileged youth, are not in the military today. A recent study was done on Congress. Out of 435 congressmen and a hundred senators, only four had children in the military and only one is an enlisted person." from http://www.npr.org/programs/totn/tra...11.moskos.html

Politicians hide themselves away. They only started the war. Why should they go out to fight? They leave that all to the poor.

Sound familiar?

Regardless of whether Iraq/Saddam had WMDs, apparently we're in the right place to find and kill terrorists, because the attacks are coming every day. If the American Military Machine will adopt a fight fire with fire strategy instead of grouping everyone together in a clearly marked, poorly defended central location, they'd get something done.
And they gotta get the media OUT of the war zone.

Re: China will attack US, Canada and Australia?

There's a lot of debate right now in the foreign policy community about whether China should be considered a threat. While they are undergoing a strongly nationalistic phase right now and have been rapidly increasing the size of their military, things are not as rosy for them as one might think:

--China's economy is growing rapidly but is still extremely vulnerable, due to major corruption, weak banking and legal systems, and the ups and downs of an economy that is still overwhelmingly dependent on exports, rather than domestic demand. The latter is starting to change, but the first two factors are endemic to the current regime.

--Severe regional and ethnic turmoil. Some observers I've read say that China is as likely to break up into numerous smaller countries as it is to become a superpower. The coastal areas are wealthy, but the rest of the country is still a third-world hellhole, with numerous ethnic minorities that would love to break free of the despotic ChiCom regime.

--India and Japan are both EXTREMELY wary of the ChiComs and are taking steps to counter Chinese power. We have encouraged the Japanese to re-arm as a countermeasure to the Chinese, and they could have active nuclear weapons within months if they wanted. We would not likely object to them doing this. India is a rising power that will likely overtake China in population and economic output within another 20 years or so. India's economy is growing MUCH faster than China's, and its free-market system means that India is developing native high-end industries that are not simply reliant on cheap labor, as the Chinese have done. India has moved closer to the U.S. as a result of the Islamist threat and its rivalry with China.

--China has a huge population, but its demographics are troubling for them. They've had a ruthless 'one-child' policy for a long time, and the new wealthy young in the cities there are largely forgoing children altogether. In another 30 years, China will be a giant 'old folks' home' with not enough young Chinese to support them.

Is China a rival to the U.S.? Yes. Are they a huge and important business opportunity? Yes. Do they have problems? Yes.
