I'm wondering if anyone here uses this program. I've already spoken to Newc, and he doesn't know the answer, as he is probably just as puzzled as myself.

The problem, CEP2K worked for me FINE for awhile. Then today, I go to do some recording, and when I try to open it, it says

"This system has not been cofigured correctly to run Cool Edit. Please run the Setup again."

I've tried to uninstall, reinstall, run step up again, lather rinse repeat, same error message.

I wouldn't have thought anything of it, had I never been able to use it. However, I've used it for awhile, and it's been fine.

Anyone seen this error before?

Deneb, I haven't had the problem, but I found this on another forum:

Solution 2: Reinstall Cool Edit Pro or Cool Edit 2000.
1. Choose Start > Settings > Control Panel (Windows 2000) or Start > Control Panel (Windows XP).
2. Choose Tools > Folder Options and click the View tab.
3. Make sure that Hide Protected Operating System Files is deselected.
4. Select Show hidden files and Folders.
5. Uninstall Cool Edit Pro or Cool Edit 2000.
6. In Windows Explorer, navigate to C:/Documents and Settings//Application Data.
7. Delete the Syntrillium folder, if one exists.
8. Reinstall Cool Edit Pro or Cool Edit 2000.
9. Follow steps 1-3 to reselect Hide Protected Operating System Files.

Maybe the problem has to do with deleting the hidden Syntrillium folder?

I think the Syntrillium folder is the culprit. The problem is discussed here:

Hope this helps!

I tried it out, and in each instance, I don't have a CE folder, or a Synt folder

This basically sucks.

I think my next move is to move all of my important shit to my other computer, and format this hog.

Dammit, I was hoping it would work. Here's another thread where someone mentions getting rid of a corrupt cool.ini file to solve the problem:
