Re: October Guitar World

I like maybe 2 Smashing Pumpkins songs, the ones that rocked (Cherub Rock, and Zero) and Billy Corgan can shred. That said, he is gayer than Freddie Mercury. Which isn't a bad thing necessarily, Queen is awesome in my opinion. But often Smashing Pumpkins was boring, pompous and long winded. And not in a good Dream Theater like way.

Soundgarden rocked, for Kim Thayil's guitarwork and Cornell's voice (what does a cat in a washing machine sound like anyways Tim?) but your right, Cornell was never and still is not a good live singer. Problem is he blew out his voice long ago. He has great tone but a horrible sense of pitch to boot. Its noticable on his new work with Audioslave. Listen to the best album to come out of the Seattle era, Temple of the Dog. Then listen to Audioslave. He sounds like he's been smoking 3 packs a day since then. He never took care of his voice. Its a damn shame too because he had immense talent but squandered it. I kind of hate him for it.

Alice in chains is another even more depressing story. Layne was a great singer and songwriter and Cantrell rocks. They were overall the best of the Seattle bands. Sadly Layne was also a fucking junkie. Its a terrible waste of what could have been a promising career. And I think Layne wanted to pull himself out but lacked the strength and or just didn't know how. He basically isolated himself from the world. A goddamn shame.

As for Nevermore? This Godless Endeavor is the album of the year. Amazing stuff.

Um, Mr. Corgan also appeared on the Howard Stern E! show with a hotter chick than most of you could ever dream to get. I guess it was his girlfriend at the time.

You know, to call onself a "Homophobe" is also a way to say "I'm insecure about my sexuality". To constantly rant about how bad and wrong gay people are tells me that there must be some "feelings" that you are struggling with... Everyone who's slamming Corgan needs to listen to Gish. That is one heavy album. Their first and relatively unknown. Yeah, Jimmy Chamberlain drums like a mofo and the Billy Corgan's guitar riffage is damn cool IMO.

"must be some "feelings" that you are struggling with...

..yer right bissel...I have many struggles ...but they mostly consist of cutting thru the BS some puds spew....about pop , boy bands and pure 100% crap!

and you have a knack for me to wanna sharpen my machetti to cut thru that BS..

That's where we agree..we always agree to disagree...but I'm always right.

and Tim..you and me didn't get along at one time..for reasons I forgot...probably politics or some shit , who cares...but I dig you more and more...to the point where I think you are fucking kick ass..to be honest.

and bissel maybe one day..just one day...we may be on that level too...whenever you stop following me around..pretending to be my personal psyco therapist..

try using your "intellect" on someone who gives a shit.

Fair enough. I'll listen to it again (I'll admit it's been a while) and give it another shot to appreciate his/their talent.

                    Re: October Guitar World

i was a pumpkins hater when they were putting out albums, but cherub rock was always a tune i liked. i can deal with them more now.

funny, when i was 18, i was in a band with 2 guys who went to high school with billy (glenbard north in carol stream, il), and always picked on him. well, billy's got a long musical carreer, and those two guys paint houses.

i remember one of them, john, started liking SP after awhile, and felt that billy got even with him when SP was on SNL, and i guess billy dedicated the song to the people who picked on him in school or something like that.

it's a different style; some don't like it, i don't love it, but i do have to agree that billy looks bad bald and with hair. the poor sod.
