I've just recently been getting into Symphonic, Melodic Euro Metal.
<What rock have I been under, huh>
Not pop - psuedo metal per se, but that heavy heavy guitar sound with all the embellishments of almost Classical Melody.
Heavy Prog Metal does it for me.
I find I'm really jonesing for large sound, harmonic melodies and with some really powerfull Metal tones.
Adjectives that come to mind:
Orchestral
Choral
Lush
Operetic
Gothic <not "Goth">
"Wall-o-Guitars"
"Singing Sustain"
5 part (or more) harmonies
I'm currently pouring over the playlists at Progged Radio
So help an old(ish) eighties guy with a love for hard guitars, melodic singing and the occasional string section "discover" some new(old) music.
