Luckily for us in the Florida Panhandle this one pretty much missed us, Hell I am still cleaning up from Ivan last year. we took a direct hit, but it ain't shit compared to Katrina, I have rode out several nasty hurricanes, but I'd haul ass if I was any closer to that sucker, if you're close its a good idea to tape trashbages over your guitars and amps and put em in a closet in case the house gets hammered, good luck, buy lots of beer and ice, and dig out the acoustics, no power for a few days for sure.

My daughter and her family (including her three day old boy who they just got out of the hospital today)are heading this way from Slidell LA. She just called and thankfully they are this side of Beaumont now ...about 2.5 hours away.
Bad about the hurricane, but good I get to see my new grandson. I hope everyone makes it through this ok..
My brother and his family are choosing to ride it out. They are only an hour or so away from New Orleans. My mom just talked to him a few minutes ago. He's getting a bit worried now. I wish he would have left.. [img]/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img]

Good you get to see the boy, but wish it were under different circumstances... They may be there for a while!

Man... this whole thing is horrible. I can't imagine what these people are going through... There will be nothing left to go home to after all this...

Hate to see how the government will handle this stuff. I'm sure not well. Since they aren't some third world nation, I'll figure they won't get all that much assistance... They sure don't do much for Fla when this stuff jumps off.

I take it you live in the Mandeville / Covingtom area. Originally from N.O. (Metairie). The south shore is going to take the brunt of water being dumped into the city. The cellular towers have been out all day so its difficult to communicate with people living there.

Man, the food in New Orleans is some of the best in the world. Although not the healtiest. Its going to take several months for the city to recoup from this one.

Glued to the news. Doesn't look very good right now. Hope it turns and loses strength.
