Re: $4.00 a gallon gas? HOLY CRAP!

Adjusted for inflation, gas prices are nowhere near "high". It only feels that way because, until recently, they've actually been near the low end of the price spectrum. And they've spiked up from those "lows".

Time to just accept it, or make personal changes.

If gas stays high, it will cause other prices to increase, as other company pass on their vehicle expenses for transpotation. I'm actually glad, I'll be able to pick up a Hummer cheap now, but not one of those H2s, they should be dropped off of cliffs...........

I understand people crying about others driving big trucks etc.

But, once you have had your bloody, broken and glass impregnated body pried out of a small car involved in a somewhat minor accident, the gas requirements of larger vehicles seems acceptable in some strange way.

The way people drive here, I barely feel safe in my Yukon... I definitely feel broke though... Sigh...

Agreed. The driving skills of the average person here sucks large moose balls. And seems to be getting worse.

I really think they need to revise the requirements for getting drivers licenses. i.e., Road testing every few years, eye and motor skill examinations, etc.

They need to make it way tougher from the very begining. Have you seen what it takes to get a license in Germany? That sounds about right to me.

+1 Here! I was once in a small car and a truck basically ran over me luckily I survived. After that accident, I didn't want to drive at all, but knew I had to. I figured a Hum-V or Sherman tank would do the trick for commuting to work. After checking prices, I later decided on a Ford F-150 4X4 with big offroad bumpers! I feel much safer, but at 11 mpg City it can get expensive. I just have to deal with it.

I own 2 vehicles on each end of the spectrum, a Toyota Landcruiser and a vespa Scooter...

Guess I will take the scooter a little more often.

when married, i drove an excursion, and the wife drove a mercedes Sl500 convertible. even at 2.00 a gallon it was murder. they say if you can afford the car you can afford the gas, but what kills me is the hike in fees from federal express when i ship boxes to customers. sometimes they are 70 pounds or more and they hike the fees so high that the deal is not worth doing sometimes, or else put it on a flatbed truck and ship it. sucks any way you look at it because there is no shortage of anyhing.

If a barrel of oil costs $70 here, it costs $70 in Dubai, $70 in England,$70 in Venezuala..Etc....US Import taxes and Tarrifs are the real criminal. And , of course the big three Oil Companies. BUT, they could and would ease prices if the government didnt tax the shit out of them.

It's convenient how the government comes out looking rosy, freeing up "oil reserves", when the truth is, they are RAISING taxes on the companies producing the gas.

Word up! A big chunk of the cost at the pump is taxes. Just pick one OPEC, big oil, or our government you really would not be wrong they are all screwing us. I think I am going with Willie and buy a diesel that can run on french fry oil.

Well, I've driven in about 30 states in the US, about 5 or 6 European countries (and visited several more), Canada, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Kuwait. Let me tell you, there are no shortage of bad drivers WORLDWIDE. I have seen some fucked up driving everywhere I've ever been.

If you can afford a hummer, you can afford the gas.

Other than the natural disaster, you know who you can thank for this.

thats's exactly why i'll never buy or drive a small car. i like having some metal (pun intended ) surrounding me.

anyways, here in germany the gas prices are also going through the roof. i think it's like 1,36 euro per liter for gas ( i don't know exactly, i'm driving diesel) and 1,11 euro per liter for diesel (thats a very low price btw....at some places it's more like 1,16). this sucks donkey balls if you have to drive in order to earn money.

however, iirc about 60% of that price is all taxes life sucks
