Re: $4.00 a gallon gas? HOLY CRAP!

Alternate fuel sources are the long term answer. The short term answer, create less of a need for fuel. Fill up less often, and car pool.

If everyone tried their best to not buy gas for 2 days, the oil companies would take such an ass beating. I understand, many people commute, and many people with more money than they know what to do with, drive SUVs that get 7 gallons to the mile (yes I mean it that way) and people have to fill up.

Until the masses go for alternate fuel sources, we're basically fucked. It doesn't help when certain people in the country, have the oil companies interests, in their pockets.

I've got a Honda Civic...I remember everyone laughing at me at work when they found out what I drive. My old work partner told me he just sold that BMW (he had to have!), and bought a hybrid Honda! It's time for me to buy a new car. I would really love a new Ford Mustang GT. But at these prices, a straight 4 Japanese import(with the ability to bolt on horsepower-tuner) seems like the next car I need!? Either that...or hold onto to the Honda and buy a Motorcycle. This gas price hike is crazy! Americans won't stick with the high horse power gas guzzlers if this keeps up.

Drilling in Alaska? Hello funding to research for alternative fuels? Hydrogen cells? Organic waste being turned into fuel? Solar power? Microwave collectors? Something we don't know about?

Right now, some more hybrids would be a good start, and some mandatory regulations that will make people buy them. Anyone remember leaded gasoline? We replaced that.

What about the farmers that are paid by the government to not grow crops? How about having them grow some corn and make ethanol?

I'm honestly waiting for the day when the thought of refining crude oil to power personal vehicles will be as laughable as steam engine cars and trains are now.

[/ QUOTE ]+2 fucking million. I laugh at the clowns driving excursions. Gas is 2.80 here, saw some guy bitching about $40some to fill up his escalade. I was next to him on my gsxr- cost me $7 to fill up, can drive to and from work for almost 2 weeks on that. Don't get me started on gas/oil/politics.
Its a complete catastrophe. But Im a professional, I can rise above it. LOL

Wait until this weekend. Gas stations always raise their greatest percentage on Friday nights.

On top of that this weekend is Labor Day Weekend. Seems prices go up that weekend even moreso.

Yeah, I just filled up my monster Buick the other day, it was $2.67 for regular.

According to gaspricewatch, most expensive gas in USA right now is $3.67 in Atlanta

Bill O'Reilly stated that it costs OPEC a mere $4.00 per bbl and we're in turn getting charged $70.00! He called for 'big oil' to cut back on their profits by 20% voluntarily in addition to telling OPEC to cut the shyte. They're gouging us, and that's a fact. Again, look at the profits for XOM, and look at their 12 month pps projection. We're getting the shaft and 'big oil' should be held accountable.

Nice Buick. You don't see too many modern Buicks with rims like that... sweet. On the other hand I do see Rap, Hip/Hop ghetto wannabes driving old school luxury cars with 22's on them which is funny.

Thanks, man! They are 17" Impala SS rims which look great because the Roadmaster is basically an Impala SS with different body work. Hella reliable ride, surprisingly quick, and a lot of metal around you!

I was driving around tonight around Syracuse and drove by probably 10 different gas stations since I left work and saw as low as $2.85 and as high as $3.09

I dive a full size 4x4 hate the gas milage (between 15 and 17MPG) but need the 4x4 for the snow, need the bed to haul just about everything, including band gear , and driving a smaller car is a death trap in an accident.

That'll never happen. That would imply Bushco would hold himself accountable. All his buddies that financed his presidential run are in the oil business. The energy bill that he just signed gives ADDITIONAL TAX BREAKS to the oil companies (you scratch my back, i'll scratch yours).

Since when do companies that make record profits in need of corporate welfare? What happened to free market economics. If you want to game the free market with tax breaks, the gubment ought to give them to companies researching alternative sources of energy...especially given the fact that oil profits indirectly fund terrorism.

                        Eh, whatever.

Re: $4.00 a gallon gas? HOLY CRAP!

I bought a new fuel pump for my 4 cylinder Toyota today. My main vehicle is a v-8 and gas prices went up $.40 cents in one day here and I live a long way from where I work.

Yes we could give up our big gas hogs but I don’t think my rig will fit in the Toyota.

I think it might be time to pull a bike out of the garage. Last time I rode on the street they almost amputated my leg from a hit and run driver.

Last time I put gas in my Civic, it was knockin' on the door of £1 per litre. So that's about £4.50 a gallon, which works out to around $7.65!
As far as I am aware, the UK has the highest rate of fuel taxation in the world. Motorists are the Govt's favourite way of accumulating revenue, and get buttraped accordingly. Most of them seem to just like to lie there and accept it...

Yes, but there has been a dramatic raise in prices over the past year. I'd say gas has probably doubled in my area. We don't have great public transportation systems out here in the states like you folk in Europe. I know of a lot of folk that drive 30-45 miles to work simply because its cheaper to live out in the middle of nowhere and drive into the city instead of living in the city itself.
