OOHHH PLEASE!!!!! We all know it's human nature to provide for your family. The taking of food is one thing...that's survival.

Taking 15 pairs of Nikes, I saw one man on CNN carrying about 10 suits. Last I remember cotton twill didn't cook up to well. As for the Nikes they melt to quickly over an open flame. That's pure theft and it should be stopped. Nothing they are stealing will support them in anyway. If they wanted to sell the stolen goods, who has the money to buy it anyway?

There is a very clear line in this tragic situation between the taking of life sustaining goods, and roguish theft.

That's tough to say. I can tell you with 100% certainty one thing that I would not do:

I WOULD NOT BE FUCKING STEALING TV'S.

I would gladly take food, water, diapers, etc. for my family and others. Nobody here is saying that is an unreasonable thing to do.

I don't, nor never said I condoned people taking items for which they have no immediate need for and frivolous items (TV's etc.), they should be punished but the system that is in place is not able to support that.

Do I think that's wrong....Hell yeah....but at the same time, is it really worth dying to intervene with a group of people who have a mob menatality now?? Nope, not to me.

I think a lot of people simply underestimated and didn't plan accordingly for the storm which hit them. By the time they realized "Oh shit", it was too late and the events happened so quickly, they were overwhelmed.

Even reporters didn't expect this, there was a great article in the post about how even the people at the Weather Channel are having real problems now because they are trapped in the city with no way out, no food and no water, just like many other people. You can't plan for a natural disaster is the bottom line. And I think alot of people bought it when after day 1 people were like. "Hey New Orleans got off easy"! Not so much eh?

What's really fucked up about this is that they just redirected a ton of police officers away from search and rescue to deal with looters.

You can't just let the looters run free. They are armed invaders. Judging by the empty gun cabinets at Wal-Mart I'd say they are very well arned. I don't think anyone cares if they kill each other, but innocent people will get killed. In fact, I'd bet some already have been gunned down based on all the reports of gunfire being heard everywhere.

So as if it wasn't bad enough that these pieces of shit are stealing when they could be helping, they are costing more people their lives because the police have to chase them instead of rescue people.

I want the looters to die even more now.

Stealing is stealing! This hurricane was not a surprise. There was ample enough time to
1. Get out
2. Stock up on needed items
3. or throw a hurricane party.

Those who chose to throw a hurricane party, then feel it's 'survival' to rip off stores should be shot then have a Walmart bar code label attached to their forehead that says LOOTER.

The thugs are now shooting at the rescue helicopters and setting fires near the Superdome, where the authorities are trying to evacuate people. And the idiot mayor of N.O. and governor of La. finally decided it was time to declare martial law. But gee, let's blame Bush, because it's more fun. The authorities in Louisiana knew that this shit was going to be bad many days ago, and they've known for YEARS that N.O. couldn't withstand more than a Cat. 3 hurricane and that it was only a matter of time before the city would suffer a flood. Evidently they were more interested in receiving envelopes stuffed with cash than with doing proper disaster planning. Unforgivable.
