Last night, my brother, his boys, and myself played at an outdoor party. We've been goofing off with some tunes for a while, so we thought we give it a go. It was a blast! Our set list:

Wrathchild (Iron Maiden)
The Wizard (Black Sabbath)
Mr Crowley (Ozzy)
Phantom of the Opera (Iron Maiden)
You can't stop rock n roll (Twisted Sister)

Thanks guys! The boys are 13 (14 today actually), and have been playing for about two years. They do have their own band with friends from school so they play quite a bit. It's amazing how kids progess at stuff so fast. The whole thing started when my brother and I put a challenge to them to learn Phantom of the Opera to see if they could do it. After two practices, they had it down pretty well. Our next tunes will be The Hellion/Electric Eye, Blitzkrieg, and possibly Wake up Dead. [img]/images/graemlins/headbang.gif[/img] We'll start on that next week.

I know what you mean Bill. They are getting to that age where all they want to do is chase girls. I wouldn't worry about it too much. Your son sounds like a good kid from the Blindmuddy post, I'm sure he'll turn it around. Besides, the school year just started... give 'em some time. Hell, it's still nice out and I know I'm in no mood to go to work every day LOL.

Yeah, those are some TOUGH solos. I'll find a way to fake it 'cause I doubt I'll be able to play them LOL. Ryan isn't into leads yet, though I keep on him about it. I want him to step up and take some solos now. It's fun as hell doing the harmony stuff in Phantom.

Yeah Steve..he just started new teacher..they ahve to get to know one another..Vinny every since he started school asserts himself as THE class clown (wonder where he gets this from)..he just wants to be liked..I goes thru this every single year with his new teachers..then things settle down and he's good.

I can't help it ..that's how i talk..I met the Prez once..and he busted my balls about my Mohawk..when I was escorting him at the airport..so I told him I would be happy to give him the same do.."you'll look friggin' awesome" I told him" he just laughed and shook my hand..my boss turned purple and hid his head in shame..but we laughed later..no biggie.. I love these threads. Question though: How did your kids get "into" playing? I have one (7 yrs old) starting with piano, and the 9 year old starting on guitar. They go through the motions and all, and are progressing reasonably well, but don't really seem that into it. I can't see them sticking with it for too long unless they get a bit more passion for playing. So does this have to come by itself, or is there some way you found to help it along?

Dude, that's awsome. My brother plays guitar and the other plays bass and in the 6+ years we've probably been playing we never jammed together. Dunno why...But very cool to see those dudes even younger than us jammin out to some kickass tunes. And happy birthday to the boys [img]/images/graemlins/toast.gif[/img]
