they say in two hours right now... Hmmm...

Caused by a water dept worker?? I didn't know they actually worked? The cleveland ones sure don't, hahaha...

I never saw a power line severed by a guy leaning on a shovel before...

Not sure what you're referring to, but this was good.

Ok... Umm.. yeah... bizarre for it to be dark during a power outage... ok... Guess some people wouldn't expect that, hehe..

Hence the term Blackout...

I was building a shopping center on Ventura Blvd, in the valley. We had the Dept of water and power come out and trench for the new power service. they cut through a 4 inch main communication trunk that fed the major financial districts. all the banks includings ATMs were knocked out of service for 8 hours, (Friday afternoon of all times) they did'nt even know they did it for a couple hours and then they tried to blame us for their stupidity. we had news crews all over the place, I even got my Andy Warhol minute of fame on TV explaining the situation, what a joke.
I say the boy ain't right!

Yeah... that part and this one I found particularly funny too. "At Bob's Big Boy restaurant in Burbank, power was out for about 90 minutes.
'All we could serve were salads and cold sandwiches,' manager Frank Rodriguez said. 'No hamburgers.'"

Could you imagine the patrons' reaction?! A sandwich?! A SALAD?!
Okay, maybe its just me.

I'd be pleased to get a sandwich or salad atthat point really. Considering they'd be handwriting reciepts, many places would shut down!

So did the people who were pumping gas when the pumps stopped working get it for free, since there was no way to figure out how much they owed?

Good question!

BTW, most stations out here are pre-pay.

Re: Blackout in L.A

Looked from my clock that the power was out for 2 hours in Studio City.

Funniest thing was, I was at lunch in Hollywood, when my co-worker's wife called from the valley with news of the power outage.

Lest than ten seconds later, the power in the restaurant went out.

For about one minute.

Good thing we had just gotten our food, cause I'd hate to see a "cold sandwich" at at Chinese place!

Cold cat sandwiches probably suck... Maybe with some mustard though....
