  • Q: Meaning of signs sprayed on New Orleans' walls

What is the meaning of the signs the rescue and search teams spray on the walls of the houses ? Is it just a game of tic-tac-toe, are they part of military standard semiotics or just made up for the occasion ? Where can I learn more about them ?

They tell how many people were found in the house, when it was searched, who searched it, and maybe even a badge number. I just happened to catch that on the news.

Matt is right. It shows that it has been searched already, by whom, and how many people, if any, live or dead, were found.
