How do you guys feel about people faking accents in bands?

I knew this semi-famous country singer from austin that used to 'strap on' his country accent for shows and interviews. In high school he had no accent whatsoever. It really pissed me off when I went to see him as he was starting to make it and he had all these pandering country BS stories and a TERRIBLE overdone accent. Talking about trucks and crap when he wore glittery clothes and did prince covers in middle school.

Real talented guy -or so I thought, but now he can never be himself.

Ya all. Get this, I knew a woman the was born and bred in Californicate. She moved to Georgia. I talked to her on the phone. She tried so hard to get that "Southern Twang" it hurt to hear it. I guess she had to lose her "accent" to git along. The only sweet southern accent is from good old LA. God bless them. And we ain't talk'in LA Calif.

Oh yeah,got a country music star from here that I played in many different bands with,he is about as country as my ass is! His dad talked him into the country bullshit and a good friend of mine pulled some strings for him,got him noticed with MCA,and bam,record deal.Then he turned his back on my friend that hooked him up,pretty much everyone that ever helped him.I've known this guy for 20+ years and he can't look me in the eye...................................
