• Glad to have Hockey back, sad to lose stars...

Today Ron Francis announced his retirement, this seems to be the sad fallout of the current CBA. It's a strange day in hockey where we no longer have Ron Francis, Mark Messier, and Al MacInnis on the ice.

The pressure on Crosby seems to grow every day doesn't it?

I imagine there will be some more. I dont see any clubs trying to get Irbe. Robataille looks real shakey. That strike did alot of damage.............

i wish yzerman would hang up the skates. he's done everthing he do in the sport, never liked him... he needs to take a page from messier and bow out gracefully.

Yzerman is one of the greatest Captains ever to play the game, a true leader. Interesting that during the latest World Cup series there were five players on Team Canada who normally wore #19, but none of them would wear that number for Team Canada because Yzerman couldn't play and he would have worn that number. That kind of respect isn't given to just anyone.

As an aside, my two year hiatus from hockey is drawing to a close. I had to take the time off while I was back in grad school, which ends in early December. I can't wait to play again.

Easy now dk2, thems drop the gloves words Yzerman is the man I can't comprehend how any "real" fan of the game of hockey could not like him. I respect and admire all great players regardless of what team they play for. Yzerman deserves one more year, especially the way he went out with a slap shot to the eye. Yzerman has more class and work ethic in his pinky than most players who ever played the game, including the Stars own than Mike Madanna Billy G's is what Stars hockey is all about. They are going to be tough if they keep it together...I can't wait. Now that the Stars practices are open to the public in Frisco, I predict a couple hooky days for myself and my boys cool:

heheh...my dilemma is that the Wings and the Stars are both my teams I was born a Red Wing and grew up in the Detroit area but now live in the land of Stars. They are both my teams and I love them both but I do cheer for the Wings when they play against each other

Very true- OC had such a hard on to sign the UFA's (Leech, Scathard, Murray, Isbister, etc) that he didn't leave enough money for Razor and Boynts. They gave Gill $1.5, so Boynts should at least get $1.8 - $2. Razor needs around that much, too. I wish they'd just trade Gill and use that money, though I doubt anyone would want him. Plus, the B's probably have plenty of used Zamboni tires and puck bags, which is what they'd get in return. Bastards.

As I said to Chuck. Doesn't look like the Bruins really want to win. They signed Zhamnov. Nuff said...

Messier was front page of the sports section in the Denver Post yesterday. I was shocked to read it, I thought he retired years ago 25 years is a long time to play hockey.
