Re: alice in chains frontman...

people i never said replace Layne Staley... i just stated Marty Casey would be a good front man for AIC. he has apparently toured with Jerry Cantrell before. everyone is right you DON'T replace Layne Staley, however it's ok to move on and remember him by moving the AIC sound forward. I really disagree with the replacment of pivotal and founding members that have died. To maybe take it to the extreme how would you all feel if Pantera or Damageplan went on a search to replace Dimebag? With the exception of ACDC this route generally does not work out.

i would think they would want them to keep going... when my mother in law passed away last december, she didn't tell her family to stop LIVING a normal life she said just remember her values she tried to instill in them. i think that's what it's about imho

That Marty guy sucks. He has a lame weak-ass voice, is constantly flat, and stares vacantly into the camera all the time. He's also gay...not that there's anything wrong with that.

Personally, I thought yesterday after seeing Suzie's interview, "she's gone."
I think they'll choose JD in the end. I'm not certain of the legality of everything happening, but it would seem that surviving and winning this show is not necessarily a long term binding contract to be the end all singer for INXS..if the guy isn't going to work out, they'll give plenty of chances and then make the choice to move on.

I didn't like JD at first..but after seeing him perform a number of times, I think he has the cords and the raw talent they can mold.

Dirt was my favorite AIC. Cantrell should form a new group and call it something else. He could still cover old AIC songs. Maybee Zakk could sing for em'.

Maybe they'll do Rockstar Van Halen and find a new guitar player.

My old VH tribute singer auditioned for Van Halen..true story..made the locals papers here..didn't get the gig.."sounded too much like Dave"..the reason.

But I emailed Van Halen several times , years ago dropping Jorne Lande's name..he would pull VH from there grave..no doubt!!!

If you heard Jorne Land's "Worlchanger"..then you'd know he's custom built for that band!

He worked with Yngwie live and got a whole 15 minutes stage time to sing in Ynwgie's hour set...what was jorne lande doing when Yngwie was playing his 45 minute solos...giving him the finger , dry humpin' and mocking him behind his amps!!! Donnie Swanstrom 01/25/06..miss ya!

Not to encourage prejudice, but willingness to join this kind of charade would immediatly disqualify someone from joining my band.

Pretty good actually, Do you think Dime would want them to just die on the vine without him? No he'd want them to continue doing what they do best. So yes, they should find a guitarist to replace Dime, but it won't be easy.

IMO, there is no AIC without Layne Staley. Anything else is simply a glorified cover band.

Layne cannot be replaced. he can be replaced, but it won't sound the same. jerry would want to make it new anyway as his playing has changed over the years. the 2 best bands of the 90's for me are The Black Crowes, and AIC. both have stopped making music, and that sucks the big one.
Not helping the situation since 1965!
