Fine, I'll bite...

[/ QUOTE ]

You're biting on the wrong point; the point of the thread is how this country has gone downhill trying to appease the nut cases who cry "I have been offended" or "make special acommodations for me".

I didn't start the thread to debate religion vs. state. We're not going to solve the issue, and it will get this thread locked. And I, personally, have enjoyed the hell out of this thread today.

"I have been offended. So appease me!!!" Let the thread run. Or, I'm going to the 9th district court and get this whole forum closed down because it's a violation of everything that is decent. But, on appeal, it will be overruled on the grounds that we can be serious and funny in the same breath.

Here you go. Here's a clip of Adam Corolla hitting the nail on the head. Unfortunately, it's at the expense of a Muslim woman, so I hope this doesn't rally the anti-Muslim faction here. Remember, the discussion is about wasting tax payer dollars over "special" treatment that people feel they are entitled to here and conveniently forgetting how fortunate they really are for being here in the first place. This, of course, applies to many other countries in Europe and Asia who have opened their doors to the less fortunate only to see their hospitality taken advantage of by a handful of asshats.

this whole state and religion thing ..is about one word and on word only..

Conformity...which to the majority is not a bad thing.

This is more or less exactly what I was getting at... IF you want to piss on everything even borderline religious that has to do with the USA, you´re not only DENYING the entire Heritage of our country (WHY did the pilgrims leave Europe again... think long and hard before answering, please), but essentially pissing on your own leg.

Again, they´re entitled to their opinion, just like they´re entited to choose not to be religious or secular in any way... But that does NOT make the significantly more important Issues at hand go away, it only prolongs time until these are solved...

Again, when everyone has food, a job, a decent education, then I´ll give a flying fuck about whether the Pledge of Allegiance bothers someone... until then: Accept it or get out IMO

Same fucking bullshit as these well off kids starting petitions against genetic grain.... While I understand their arguments, they´re not the ones starving. In other words: as long as you have enough to eat, you´re the last person in the fucking world that has the right to tell starving people what they can and can´t eat, and convincing 3rd world countries that the grain that could feed their people is POISON... well IMO that´s about as close to ethnic cleansing as you can get without actually having that intent, but it´s definitely murder on a large scale

SO much for "Saving the world", eh? Sounds more like a second Holocaust to me

Nice! Well said.
Unfortunately our judicial system backs these morons who just want to stir the pot. Maybe its to make a name for themselves. I support "Under God" in the POA. I'm comfortable with it, I grew up with it and it is my belief.

An observation was made in this thread that, if belief in a religion or non-religion, be it God, Satan, atheism or Ibanez guitars brings the good out of someone, then it is good. Each sect has their fanatic that tries to push their belief too far. It gets annoying. I'd rather hang around an Ibanez player who I can laugh with and have a good time, then to hang with a Christian, Satanist, or atheist who is "gonna show me a better way".

But Zerb, you're correct in saying there are more important things in life then to worry about piddly sh*t. I bet if you took a poll, I'd imagine 70%-80% would support keeping "under God" in the POA, "In God We Trust" on money, 10%-20% wouldn't, and 10%-20%, wouldn't give a sh*t. Like I said, it's something we grew up with. What are you gonna do by changing it? Is their any specific reason other than wanting to be a jerk?.....No, that's it!

But, USA's judicial system...............that's a whole other subject................It blows!

Re: Pledge of Allegiance - this pisses me off...

"As the government of the United States of America is not in any sense founded on the Christian religion as it has in itself no character of enmity [hatred] against the laws, religion or tranquility of Musselmen [Muslims] and as the said States [America] have never entered into any war or act of hostility against any Mahometan nation, it is declared by the parties that no pretext arising from religious opinions shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries."
-Treaty of Tripoli, end of story.

As far as the Pilgrims, go some heritage they've left us, huh? Salem Witch trials, dumb hats, killing natives, and a prissy, reserved culture. They have squat to do with this country anyway. If it weren't for the English tightening the screws, and the subsequent backlash, there would be no America. Rising up against an overreaching authority is what made this country.

GM food? playing with fire. It's fine until something goes wrong. They have already shown they cant keep the modified crops seperate, and what happens after that is a crap shoot. Best scenario, the new crop is easier to grow, bigger, etc. etc. Worst case, you have something impotent to evolving viruses and pests and pretty soon there is no more crop left. We've been messing with nature for years, but this has the potential to really bite us in the ass. How about instead of billions going to Monsanto, why dont we fix corruption, bribery, etc and make sure food actually reaches people who need it. I thought it was not the amount of food, but the availability that was the problem.
