So many good ones.

Kiss 1978.
Pink Floyd 1988 (twice)
Eric Johnson, every show
Satriani 1987
Aerosmith at the House of Blues, unannounced blues only show in 1993.
Queensryche, 1991 Empire Tour

Mike
Sleep. The sound doesn't collapse to riffs of early eyes either.

Re: The best show you\'ve been to

Hard to say any one was the best. But some real memorable ones...

Scorpions with Bon Jovi opening - around 1984. If pressed, I'd have to say this was my favorite show. But, mostly, that's because I had 3rd row tickets, moved up to the front after BJ left, and Scorps kicked ass.

Maiden & Priest - This was my first concert ever. NOTB tour. What a great double bill, and what a great way for a young snotnosed kid like myself to get introduced to live concerts.

Ozzy with Crue opening. Sadly, this was after Randy passed. So I never got the see him.

Ozzy with (I think) Fastway and Vandenburg - Nice triple bill.

DefLep Hysteria tour. In the round. Out of control chicks everywhere.

Kiss Reunion Tour. I never got to see them in their hay day so it was my dream come true.
Pantera. 91 in a club in el paso, TX. Still pretty unknown then. Broke my collar bone stage diving. It was awesome.

Re: The best show you\'ve been to

Almost every show that came to mind has already been mentioned here (Ozzy's Bark at the Moon w/ Motley Crue and Waysted '83, Monsters of Rock '88, Scorpions w/ Bon Jovi '84, I.M.'s Powerslave w/ Accept '85). I'll add Badlands @ Hammerjacks in Baltimore in '91. Two other Hammerjacks regulars were Kix and Wrathchild America. Whether you like their music or not, both of these bands used to put on some of the best, most high energy shows I've ever seen in a club environment. They never came across the same to me in a larger venue but they ruled in a more intimate setting.

Within Temptation is horrible to my ears. :s

They're played on MTV here incessantly too btw, I've probably 'seen' them live 6 times or something by now, they're playing at nearly any festival around here, so when they come on we usually go back to our tent or get out the ganji on the festival grounds. faster pussycat in 1990 at the metro in chicago.
kiss in 1979 (still got the shirt)
motley crue in 1985, 89, 90, and 97 on the 10 city listening party for generation swine. was in the bronco bowl in tx. i had an advance copy and had a great time at the show.
nine inch nails w/marilyn manson. it was the loudest, clearest sound i've ever heard at a show.
aerosmith on the 2nd leg of the get a grip tour. it was great when everyone sat down b/c they didn't know seasons of wither.
concrete blonde in 1995
ace frehley at the dome room in sept 1995, just before the reunion was announced
kiss reuinion tour- july and oct of 96
badlands at the vic in chicago on their first tour, went to a meet n greet at flip side records in chicago before the show.

the cult at the house of blues, chicago on their last tour; it became the last show as the cult, as they split up that day. i got the set list signed by ian, and one of billy's picks.
art alexakis solo at house of blues, chicago

i'm sure i'm forgetting a bunch, but that's what comes to mind.

I forgot about Pat Mathini at the Vic in chicago. That guy is just insane. And G3 with Yngwie at the Metro in chicago. Wow Vai's no sloutch live either. Kiss at Milwaukee fest in 2003. Got the CD they played a bunh of old stuff which was cool and some b-sides too.

I love Within Temptation, well I love Sharon more than the actual music You gotta admit she is smokin. This isn't the first I've heard about how spotty they can be vocally as a live band. They are kinda metal lite anyways. If anything Evanescence is a copy of them or more in point of fact, Lacuna Coil though Within Temptation and Evanescence sound closer, comparison wise.

Ok on that note, you have all said your best gigs, what was your worst?

For me it was a fucking Kenny G concert my mom dragged me to when I was 13 or something. Nightmares people, nightmares. Michael Bolton was opening. It was was like 2 hours of pain and agony.

I've got to mention another one. I saw Mark Knopfler at Red Rocks about 2 months ago. The sound in that ampitheatre is hands down the best that I have ever heard. Every note he played came through crystal clear, like you were listening to a good stereo. I am still amazed at the acoustics of that place...and Knopfler is a monster player as well.
