Re: Lovely Rita

[ QUOTE ]
C'mon, the best food in the entire world is in New Orleans!

I want a sloppy hot roast beef PoBoy from Mother's. Or a seafood barge, fried soft shell crabs, fried shrimp, fried oysters.

Spend the money and upgrade everything right. The naysayers don't know what they're missing.

[/ QUOTE ]

No, they don't.

Of course where many of these poor suckers live, white gravy is considered "spicy"!!

I am bummed that Casamento's probably won't be able to open, and much of the seafood industry is screwed...and I want my $2.00 drinks at Dos Jefes!!!!

Sleep. The sound doesn't collapse to riffs of early eyes either.

Re: Lovely Rita

white gravy is spicy, when you season it with a load of cayenne and a bunch of black pepper.
You guys are making me hungry, sounds like the food is an awesome experience in NO.

I haven´t yet heard from my parents down in Corpus Christie, but I assume they´re battening the hatches and packing up everything that´s not nailed down just in case.

Good luck to all

Even then it´s not spicy.... try some "blackened" fish, redfish or Mahi Mahi are great choices

I use redfish all the time.

I have a feeling Rita is going to arrive a nasty PO b!tch in NO. Doesn't take much for it to change course.

From the album Nature Of The Beast: April Wine
Lightning smokes on the hillrise
Brought the man with the warning light
Shouting loud ;you had better fly;
While the darkness can help you hide
Trouble's comin' without control
No one's stayin' that's got a hope
Hurricane at the very least
In the words of the gypsy queen
Sign of the gypsy queen
Pack your things and leave
Word of a woman who knows
Take all your gold and you go
Get my saddle and tie it on
Western wind who is fast and strong
Jump on back, he's good and long
We'll resist till we reach the dawn
Running seems like the best offense
Staying just don't make any sense
No one could ever stop it now
Show the cards of the gypsy town
Sign of the gypsy queen
Pack your things and leave
Word of a woman who knows
Take all your gold and you go
Shadows movin' without a sound
>From the hold of the sleepless town
Evil seems to be everywhere
Heed the spirit that brought despair
Trouble's comin' without control

Well, my parents are boarding up (The pics are funny, you can clearly tell than mom´s never even heard of a hammer much less used one ), tomorrow or Friday they´ll be getting in the Dodge and getting out of Dodge

Again, best of luch to all... It looklse to me like Rita is coming back to finish off what Katrina started (where are all the hurricane Refugees? Yep, Texas...)

Note to self: never even kiss a chick called Rita, Katrina was bad enough when you had her.....

I see a Bad Moon Rising
I see trouble on the way
I see earthquakes and lightin
I see bad times today

I hear Hurricanes a'blowin
I know the end is coming soon
I fear rivers overflowin
I hear the voice of raze and ruin

Hope you got your things together
Hope you are quite prepared to die

Yeah I miss the fried shrimp and hushpuppies and them damn sloppy PoBoys that you can ONLY get in New Orleans

They charge about $7+ a pound for shrimp up here in TN, and they're small. Restaurants get itty bitty shrimp and think 20 is "a pile of shrimp"
Hillbillies

And they're what in N.O.? $2 a pound at most?

A woman I used to work with went to N.O. for Mardi Gras and I had her bring me back two loaves of Reising's French Bread. I got some roast beef from WalMart's deli and had them shave it thin like it's supposed to be, and took them to work for lunch the next day - 2 6-inch PoBoys is a killer lunch. Especially on real French Bread that you gotta get tough with

You oughta see the stuff they pass off as French Bread up here: one is prepackaged and they slice it into Melba strips, and the other is "bakery fresh" and about 4 inches wide and 18 inches long, and about 2 inches thick - looks like a bread armadillo that's been run over a few times

Maybe I'll get lucky and the Gulf will be relocated closer to TN from all the flooding
I want to depart this world the same way I arrived; screaming and covered in someone else's blood

Yep, Batten down them hatches. Gonna need to stock away some PoBoy's for this coming week. They are predicting 100-80 mph winds for much of Houston during the wee hours on Saturday. Even if we don't get our roof's blown off we could be out of power for days! Might have to have a shrimp and crawdaddy boil in the back yard.

Last report it's up to 165 mph winds. I'm almost done boarding up. We're still planning on staying here and riding this one out. Hopefully Houston won't get hit bad. Wish me luck!!!

Re: Lovely Rita

as long as you are 50 miles or so inland and at 100' elevation or better, have a modern well built home, and board up and have a generator, 5 days of water and provisions, riding it out might be an option, if you have kids or don't meet all the other criteria, I would suggest evacuating.

I had a nightmare last night that I went into Kroger today and there was no beer left.

Luckily, that wasn't the case.

this one looks nasty... my sister and her newborn triplets (!) are on their way out of Houston. Only been 1 week since checking them out of the hospital.

My brother is gonna ride it out..luckily he's in a 8th floor condo, so hopefully it will be OK.

Must be hell trying to get out of there....
