PALM SPRINGS, California (AP) -- A 32-year-old mother of two is the new Mrs. America.
Mrs. California Andrea Preuss won the national crown Sunday at the Riviera Resort & Racquet Club.
Preuss, of Huntington Beach, works as a district sales manager for pharmaceuticals giant Eli Lilly & Co. -- but said her most important job is raising her children.
"As moms, if we give our children hope and self-esteem we'll see the whole range of social pathologies shrink to manageable proportions," she said in a statement released Monday.
The native of Yorktown, Virginia, met her husband, Bill, on a blind date arranged by the couple's mothers. Their children are 6 and 4.
Finishing second was Mrs. New York Stephanie Tsarsi, 35, of the Long Island town of Syossett. Placing third was Mrs. Washington Jennifer Tapang, 27, of Tacoma.
