• pics from my last contest

For anyone who cares, I've got some pictures from the contest I did on the 17th.

First up: Log press. This is a pic of 270 pounds. I made 230, 250 and missed the 270. The log is much different from a bar. I can put up around 300 overhead with a bar, but I've never done more than 260 on a log. Overhead press is my weakest movement.

Second up was the Conan's wheel. The weight was 950 lbs. in the basket. Can't tell you what the weight in the arms was because of the distance of the lever, but my best guess is somewhere between 400-500 pounds. The basket is approxiamtely in the center of the bar with the fulcrum at one end and me at the other. What is that, a 2nd class lever? Anyway, I did just over a turn and a quarter. This was pretty heavy.

Third up was the keg carry. It had to be carried with a bear hug type grip. The keg weighed 270 pounds with a run of 50 feet back and forth for distance. I carried it 200 feet and set it down. I could have gone a few more feet, but by then it was pressing down on my diaphragm and I hadn't taken in any air during the last 50 feet. So I decided to set it down instead of pass out.

Fourth up was the farmer's carry. I had to go 50 feet down and back carrying 260 pounds in each hand. I took my time with this and finished in 22 seconds. 16 seconds is my best time with this weight and distance.

Finally was the stones. This was the only one I was disappointed in. There were 5 stones weighing 220, 235, 265, 300, and 330 pounds. They were to be loaded to a 54 inch platform. I loaded the first four in 15 seconds and I missed the 5th stone by about an inch. The platform has a metal lip so as soon as I hit the corner of it, it slid right down. This is a pic of it on the way down. You can tell by the expressions on the spotters' faces.

Either way, that's what I do for fun. And it's a good thing I'm a student at Chiropractic college. Because this shit knocks stuff around like no other.

Feel free to make comments, poke fun, etc.

        Badass... You are pushing weight!

How old are you you think you still got enough in the tank to make a Pro run? You look to be all natural and a good build still you can put on more weight

I might attempt the keg liftin, I've carried a few kegs from the car to the house, but never in a bear hug hold...or never by myself...Your the man, lol

You're doing the keg thing all wrong. The proper way is to carry it in dozens of 12oz trips.

                    Awsome man, congrats!

I had started lifting seriously for a while about a year ago... was getting really into it and having a great time, until I found out I had a herniated bulging disk between L4/L5. Havent been back since.

I really want to get back into it though, I just dont know if theres a fix for my back without surgery.

Re: pics from my last contest

I was up to 260 in May of last year. But that was just too much weight to carry on my frame. I had to fight for every pound I gained, and being a clean lifter, it wasn't easy. They came out with a new pro weight class, 231 and under, so I dropped the weight. I lost 30 pounds in 3 months and another 5-10 in the past year. As far as going pro, I could if I had the time and desire. But being in school full time has taken a lot of free time away from me, not to mention the money required to travel to shows. I need to save that money for more guitars. I'm 27 so I still have about 8 years until I reach my strength peak. At least that's the age that is usually agreed upon by the "experts." But that's not saying I couldn't get stronger into my late 30's and early 40's. It's all about the training.

As far as the back problems go, I get Chiropractic adjustments weekly. I really think that's been key to being able to compete at this sport and staying healthy.

And, Tim. When it comes to drafts, 12 oz is for pussies. I wont't touch anything less than 22 oz. But that night, I was into the pitchers, and plenty of them.

Well , you just be carefull bro..That is quite impressive.

You have alot of faith and recommend Chiropractors dude. I never tried one. I'm afraid they might tweak my injured neck wrong and make it worse or somethin'..I sure wouldn't want to risk that. Everyone says I should go..I dunno..

                            I'm only 5 8" and go about 220..and I love pudding pops.
