        Re: Doom the movie

I saw the Friday late show. I enjoyed it. It is much closer to the Resident Evil end of video game movies than Super Mario Bros./Double Dragon. I've only played Doom and Doom 2, but it seemed to try to stay closer to the feel of the source material than Res. Evil did (IMO).

Yeah, it was ok. It definately reminded me of RE. The BFG needed to be rotating though, when he finds it. It was cool though when they finally switch to the 1st person thing towards the end. I think if the whole movie was like that they would have a puke filled theatre by the end of the movie. Re: Doom the movie

This is one video game to movie effort that worked well, I think. They stayed true to the harsh nature of the game and that payed off. The only thing toned down, really, is the overtly satanic/Hell reference. There's a lot hinted at or suggested, and talk of evil and demons, but nothing as direct as the games. Dwayne/Rock's reaction after the first shot from the BFG is great.
