Re: Fights?

Size matters not in a street fight at all Size does matter in regulated fights though.

Thanks for all the input guys! Yeah, the talking thing worked out just fine and it's cool now. Wow, I sure learned a lesson! Don't run my mouth to people I don't know, even if it's a small joke. Keep the stories comin' in though!

You got mine too man! It's comforting to know that there's a place to turn to whenever you need help with something, that's what I love about the internet. It links people together, without being discriminatory, for we all exist without skin color or nationality on here! You guys are great *tear*

Re: Fights?

Totally agree with Ace...walk away if you can - BUT if a showdown is inevitable, always get the first punch. I learned that lesson the hard way by being a mouthy idiot in high school.

When I got out "on the streets" after graduation I found out quickly that a certain amount of swaggering confidence (bordering on cockiness) will actually keep you out of trouble for the most part (if you keep your mouth shut).

But for those times when you just can't avoid it, NEVER let them hit you first. And after you hit him once, DON'T STOP until your sure he's not going to hit you back!!!

A good friend of mine in junior high called an older kid, who dated my sister a "Fag". The older guy punched my friend in the nose and killed him.

Back in high school which was longer ago than I care to mention, a friend of mine got in a fight over some dumb shit. Anyway, he ended up getting hit, fell and stuck his head on a curb. Now, he has brain damage and is a drooling idiot. The other guy went to jail. The civil suit was huge. I'm sure whatever the fight was about was really worth fucking up these two lives. I'm not a big puss or anything but all this fight stuff is just plain old fuckin dumb! And I don't recall anyone mentioning potential lawsuits. I'm not saying this just because my wife is an attorney but things are different today. If someone hit me or anyone in my family, I would OWN THEIR ASS and every stinkin penny their shitty little job paid them. You may feel like a big man winnning a fight but that will quickly go away after your wages have been attached as a result of a lawsuit. You don't have a job yet? That's okay. The court will wait until you graduate and get a job. How would you like to pay large percentage of your salary to the guy you beat up 15 years ago? I've seen it happen and that's reality!

Re: Fights?

Junior High, 7th grade. This guy (who had about 40 pounds on me) had been kind of a jerk to me all year. So one morning before class, he keeps punching me in my arm. I throw a punch to hit him in his arm, and I miss and catch him in the jaw. I saw his right arm pull back, and the next thing I saw was the ceiling. That pretty much ended that fight. I had a nasty black eye. My dad saw it and asked me if I started it, or if I was trying to finish it. I said trying to finish it. He was pleased.

The next day in class, the bully and I were hanging out in the back of the room, joking around. I guess it was a respect thing, and now he had to find someone else to pick on.

Those were the old days, though. Nowadays, I supposed he would have stabbed me after class. Strange days then, stranger days now.

...and that was the only real fistfight I've ever been in.

Re: Fights?

Last time I shot my mouth off at someone I didn't know, I got a baseball bat to the face.
I was only 15 and thought my shit didn't stink.
Two black eyes, broken nose, 3 missing teeth, chin split wide open and a concusion. That's what I got. And that was all caused by the first, and thank god, only swing.
Deserved every bit of it too... I used to be a total prick.
Now I watch what I say and if I do shoot my mouth off, there's a legit reason for it and I'm prepared to back it up.
But still, it's always better to walk away if you have the option. Teeth are REAL expensive to fix... so is a broken nose.

lol...respect....WALK is what that dude should have did. What was BS was the dude who kicked ass wasn't in the guy who was in it from the start, he jumped out of hte car and ran up KO's him.

I've seen this happen like this a thousand times tho. The dude talking smack can't deliver of back it up.

Re: Fights?

> I grew up in Akron,Ohio,in what my mom and dad say was a nice neighborhood until I entered my teenage years. I was never the type to start shit, but somehow it found me a LOT. One time before school,a kid I thought was a friend hit me in the eye with a snowball loaded with a golf ball sized rock. As soon as school let out,I went to where I knew he would eventually go,and even though I was semi-blinded due to the swelling,I thrashed the guy. The only additonal injury was me breaking my thumb while trying to poke his eye out, holding him in a headlock,he moved and I jammed it into his forehead. As I got older, the neighborhood got rougher, with a lot of older, thug kids running around. Before long,I was forced to deal with multiple attackers, facing 5-1 odds at times, and took my share of beatings, fortunately avoiding any life threatening stuff and gaining knowledge. By the time I was 14,I felt very strongly about my chances with anyone but a grown man one on one. This came to pass when I moved to Tennessee. As the new kid,and a "Yankee" to boot, the local cornfed kids talked shit but never stepped up,not being racist but the black kids always felt they needed to show me who ran things here. I was shocked to see that this group chose to jump me one on one,3 groups of 3 in the first week, all left holding their heads wondering what I hit them with. I used bricks,2 D batteries stuffed into a sock,a trailer hitch ball, whatever I could find if it got out of hand. I was lucky that none of these guys were hardcore enough to brings knives and guns to school, back in the mid-80's these things were never a concern except in the bigger cities. I developed a rep as a bulldog, anyone that jumped me knew they better have eaten their Wheaties that day, because as long as I could breathe or move,I would never quit. I never picked a single fight, and in most cases never threw the first punch,I was taught to bait the opponent into swinging first, avoiding it,then attacking when they were defenseless. In most cases, this worked. The fight that took the desire to fight out of me started over this guy slapping the newspaper out of my hand after football practice. We started behind the fieldhouse, and eventually made our way to the Civil War cemetary almost 1/4 mile away,I hit him probably 5 times as many times as he hit me,but every time he hit me it was HARD,this same kid was bench pressing 330 pounds as a 18 yr old, with borderline great hand speed as well. Some of the bruises didn't show up for 2 weeks, and the concussion lasted a month. How we didn't get arrested or kicked off the football team is still a mystery to me. I was diagnosed with hemophelia as a kid,and it has gradually gotten worse,a nose break now gives me a 50/50 of bleeding to death before I can be gotten to a hospital, and nothing I can do about that. I have been getting some instruction from a couple of general bad asses that also have been certified as Gracie Ju-Jitsu instructors, who have been helping me learn to predict where a punch I can see is coming from, and the best ways to avoid it and retaliate in the most effective manner. Re: Fights?

I think my first fight was in the kindergarden when I was 5 or 6 years old, it was because of some girl, my oponent was two times bigger then I was, I kicked his ass, BADLY, it was like Mike Tyson VS. Peewee Herman. I started the fight, I was in a big trouble because of it and the girl still enjoyed the other guy's company more than mine.
After that I've never started any fights, I always try to avoid them, and when I have fought then almost every time they have ended with a tie. Fighting is stupid.
