Yah man, this really sucks. I'm a tad worried as I use the subways as my main mode of transportation, but with the insane amount of cops standing by and doing these bag checks, I'm confident all should be ok.

as a NYer who works in NYC most of us dont care. yes it sucks, but theres not much u can do. plus i think being afraid is giving in to what they want. I also think its BS to search everyone, white ,black, asian, latino....NOT TERRORISTS...its Ok to racially profile in harlem & the bronx , with black people, why not the arabs....PURE BS

I said and I will still say that: The **** (you fill in the words) did not believe what they did on 9/11. I think those **** said: "Oh, shit, we really did it this time!!!." Our reaction was so strong and so intense, that those **** had to lay low and figure that maybe they should not

Because profiling might raise the odds in some cases but it won't guarantee that you'll be looking at the right folks. Consider the white-as-a-sheet 21 year-old kid from Colorado Springs who blew himself up a bit early in an apparently botched domestic terrorist incident outside the University of Oklahoma football game last weekend. Kid's dad says he was totally apolitical and had no interest in ideologies, religious or otherwise (I'm sure it was pure coincidence that he decided to strap on a backpack full of explosives after a year or so of attending a local mosque in Norman, OK). Profiling faces on the street wouldn't have smoked him out in a million years.

I take the Grand Central Station train in every morning. There are always cops or state troopers on the train since 9-11. This morning the cops had M-16's. Scary but pretty cool. I certainly appreciate the lawmen.
