hair metal/glam rock/pop metal/80's hard rock or whatever, basically the same thing, I call them all hairbands and to me they never were metal bands, they were rock bands. Most of the greatest guitar players were in hairbands and unlike most of the metal bands, they really could write good songs.

ditto on the black metal front a point: hair and poodle perms and spandex were cliched in the 80's - don't u think black makeup and white face paint, bullet belts, low guitars, blastbeats, and screams are getting abit cliched now?

I'm in the UK and have never had a problem getting hold of CDs that I wanted (and my tastes go from INXS to Slayer via most points inbetween!). Get yourself a copy of 'Classic Rock' magazine and check out the record stores at the back - ST records springs to mind.

You could also check out www.play.com - that's where I bought Vain and Cinderella recently....

yes thats very nice but who the hell are savatage accept andel witch UDO and raven? never heard opf them in my life!! u can't just pass off other bands anyway - like why are these bands i've never heard of truer than say megadeth or black label society?? they're all just metal - it doesn't make one more real than the other - what criteria is this supposed truth based on?? ur own personal opinio0n of which bands are good perhaps?? such a blanket statement is not gonna hold up necessarily to other other people's interpretation of metal now is it?
