    Re: anyone like hair metal?

yeah u do actually sound racist like that so i'd probably stop. i agree it is good to have music relevant to your culture like u say, but a lot of the black music is popular over here because all the white townies/chavs/adidas sporting yobs go out and buy it despite the airplay rock and other heavy genres get - if thats what they like then fair enuff - they're probably too stupid to 'get' metal anyway - besides given the fact that most of the kids hang out on the streets here, black music probably is what is relevant to them.

      Re: anyone like hair metal?

I can name 1000 metal bands and guitarists that have been around for 15-20 or better years and were never "popular"..nor give a shit.

Uli Roth wrote a big thing abouth this whole deal..we our on the same page..in the inner sleeve to his Legends Of Rock CD..the same fucking thing I just said!!

          Re: anyone like hair metal?

Everybody needs to sip a dose of reality, seriously.

If the song sounds good, listen to it. What is the fucking point in checking what genre it is before allowing yourself to bob your head along.

The concept of 'genres' is a direct antithesis to music itself.

True musicians don't care about being 'popular', per se. If you were offered a couple of million dollars to play MUSIC you like (because no matter who you talk about, they like playing their music, or they'd quit a long time ago) you'd grab it with both hands. In turn that money would give you the freedom to explore whichever avenue of music you'd want. Win Win Win.

          -----

Edit: how is that not the argument? You're debating what is to be considered metal and what is not. So you're already finding a way to confine (certain) music.
You took too much, man. Too much. Too much.

            Re: anyone like hair metal?

actually that wasn't the argument....i think we're agreed that what's good is personal - its just what we define as metal that was the argument and we're agreed on that now too

three cheers for everybody for metal true and processed and the general health of the guitar as king

so? noone's judging what he does or who he worked with nor are they judging his musical tastes or pinions on the state of music in general...i completely understood how he thought it was importantant that white kids had a music to call their own ...i complained coz the way he referred to black people was very derogatory
