The rain is driving me nuts, on Saturday we had so much rain I spent the majority of the day shop vac'ing out my basement because it was underwater. Thankfully my guitars are in another part of the basement.

Yeah, I can relate to that. And it SUCKS royally! I spent mucho dineros on a drainage project a few months ago, to pull water away from my house. Every time it rained, I'd get water leaking into my (then new to me) basement. The big outlays sucked royally, but it had to be done. I'd be screwed right now, with a ton of water in my basement every day had I not done it.
...I'm still pretty PO'd about this, as I specifically raised questions about it during the home purchase/closing, and the former owner f**kin' outright lied about it. In general, he was a douche to deal with on everything, and that should've been a warning sign to me at the time. Oh well. Money under the bridge now. Re: Rain in the northeast US
I'm glad on live on a hill! The flooding around my area is pretty bad (due to the Ramapo and Saddle rivers)
Obviously, records are being set in the NJ/NY area for rainfall.
Hmmmm....Should we blame George for this too?

What about that "Greener Grass" syndrome?
That's the same things I said whan I moved here 1.5 yrs ago!! Now I have a $13,000 motorcycle in my garage that won't move until May...screw this!

Well, the grass is definitely greener on the other side!
We don't even HAVE grass!
Nah, I've spent my entire life travelling and living all over the States (6 years in the northeast).
Keith and I definitely know where we want to settle down now. At least, until the kids grow up and fly away!
I hear ya on the weather... 8 months of rain and snow and cold. If you're lucky.
I can't wait.

Re: Rain in the northeast US
I'm in Central NJ, Middlesex County... not too bad around here. My sump pump's been going off like crazy, though. Good thing I put a new one in last year or my basement would probably be a little flooded now like it was two years ago, and luckily the stupid townhouse association put in drains behind my house so it doesn't look like a swamp back there where the hill slopes down!
I did have to work up in North Jersey today and was pissed it took me more than an hour to get home on the Turnpike! I feel my soul go cold... only the dead are smiling.

Same thing here...except it didn't work. Also my sun pump freaks out if you throw too much water at it and stops working altogether which causes huge problems. I think I'm going to have to look at moving the tubing from the downspout even further from the house, cause right now if it rains very heavy for more than a few hours at a time I am guaranteed to be spending a few hours with the shop vac.

I tried that, and it didn't work at all. You may need to get the land around your house re-graded. That might've worked for me, but would probably have had the negative drawback of causing water problems for my neighbors. So I had to "go all the way": brought in an excavator, who dug trenches all the way around my house, laid down underground drainage piping, and connected it to all of the house's downspounts and recessed window wells, then tapped it directly into the street's sewer line. Re: Rain in the northeast US
Been raining here for like 10 days. There are 3 huge deep puddles across, to the right, and to the left of my house down the side streets. Its fun to sit and watch all the people go halfway through before stopping and backing up. Then they try the other way and do the same once the water gets past the bottom of the doors. Then they do a U-Turn and go back the way they came. Its better than tv! You would think that all the dead cars in the road would deter them but no, they gotta try it for themselves.

I had the range today and we got soaked. Nothing really fun about qualifying in a downpour. The good news, we wrapped it up 1st time through.Scott
