• Coast Guard says "no "to Tats

Just heard this: The Coast Guard will not allow you to enlist if you have "Excessive Tatoos Or piercings". They want their swabbies to look nice and cute. For the CG'ers already in, they, at least, won't make them remove theirs.
I am a true ass set to this board.

Considering the military situation right now... they should take what they can get.

In the USAF you cannot have tattoos to a certain point, on your arms you can't have more than 3/4 of your arm inked. Maybe it's 2/3, I can't remember.
Mhalsey will know.
So I'm not surprised to hear that the Coast Guard has jumped on the "just say No to ink" bandwagon.

A buddy of mine came into the USAF ten years ago with a bunch of tattoos on his arms and he has to wear his sleeves down ALL the time. He works flightline too so he gets wicked hot.
I don't think you can even get in the military today if you have a certain amount of tattoos.
Keith has some celtic knotwork on his forearm, he got it a few years ago. It doesn't take up his whole arm and he's still within regs, but he sure got a lot of crap for getting it.
Piercings are another one... you can have them, but you can't wear the jewelry. Certain other "body modifications" are forbidden, and shaving your head is now frowned upon.

And John... I agree with you. But on the flipside, it is because the military will pretty much take anyone that Keith is getting out. Well, that, and other things.
I could go on about the state of our armed forces, but it is a rather sensitive subject in our home.

Re: Coast Guard says \"no \"to Tats

Back when I was in 1st Battalion 8th marines my roommate was a bit of a drinker, not unlike myself. We spent the weekend in Myrtle Beach and continued drinking until about 4:00 AM monday morning. We were headed out to the field that morning and we both knew our Staff Sergeant would be by early Monday morning.

At least we knew that going into the weekend. We were also the first room he would come to if he started from the Company HQ. Which he always did. Come about 6:00 AM we were awoke by that damn corporal of ours. He comes down to our room yelling his fool head off about reveille or some something.

I manage to make it to the head to relieve myself of the weekends contents. My roommate managed to slide into his cammie pants and boots. They were just hanging out and he looked like a damn recruit. He had no shirt on however and he ended up just laying down on his rack with his boots on the floor and the rest of him sprawled out chest up on the rack.

Now normally he removed his nipple ring when we got back to the barracks, or he wore a shirt. The strain of taking it off or putting on a shirt that morning was too much for him to bear. This proved to be an issue when our Staff Sergeant walked in.

All I heard was "What the fuck is that?" I hid in the head. When I came out the nipple ring was no longer attached to the chest of my roommate. It was now on the floor. He was bleeding but didn't feel a damn thing until a few hours later.
