I still can't believe they pitched to him. He's probably the best hitter in baseball right now. Lidge was panting before he even threw a pitch. Obviously worked up and nervous, they didn't do enough to calm him down.

They were just in shock. I think the Astros just didn't know what to do at the time. Pitching to Albert was a bad choice in retrospect but they should have walked him. Beyond hindsight they should have walked him.

Selig has just issued a statement.
