If in fact this does happen.
It will be the biggest display of stupidity nearly ever.
The legendary Eddie on Television looking for a lead singer.
Imagine what other legendary guitarsists like Clapton, Zach, Gilbert, and many others, are thinking about Ed now?
Alcohol, is doing the thinking, a sober ED wouldn't agree to the show, plain and simple. Imo, it will ruin their already tarnished career's if they do the show. The amount of respect they have among other musicians and fans will be tossed to the curb.
Sorry, I don't buy the marketing ploy, attract a younger audience. Let the music do the talking and young and older folks alike will be drawn. In other words, write some quality tunes and their career's will be ignited.
Great written songs never fall be the way side.
Ex. Stairway to heaven, Sweet home alabama, riders on the storm, along the watch tower, running with the devil, hey jude and so on...

I personally do not care how it was built as long as it is a good playing/sounding instrument.
Would be funny as hell if it happens, even funnier if DLR was a surprise singer trying out
I'm sorry to say I really don't think anyone really cares about VH anymore. The fact that EVH is considering a reality based program is proof

I couldn't agree more. Well said.

Maybe someone can point me to the part where this link is based in fact and not just a rumor.
If , this is going to happen I will be glued to the TV at every episode. I wouldn't miss an opportunity to see the most influential guitarist, since Hendrix, on the tube once a week. Millions of young people getting clued in to how great Van Halen is - yeah, that's a bad thing.
Yeah, I heard about this this morning. My first reaction was "What?" then the more I thought about it maybe it's a good idea to bring Van Halen back in the spot light and get Eddie to clean up his act. I know I'd watch it!

Jimmy , your assuming the guy can get it together by then, everone else is assuming he'll be the same ass he's been for the better part of a decade.

See, I have to believe that EVH has it together. He's my guy, the King, the reason I picked up a guitar and being able to create like him still motivates me. The fact that his ex-bandmates talk shit about him holds as much water as what my ex-girlfriends say about me - none. He'd have to prove to me that he is an ass and an egomaniac for me to believe it. Just because it's written in a magazine doesn't make it true.
I know a lot of you guys don't understand, but I will never be able to crack on someone like Ed Van Halen. As much as I dislike many musicians I try not to take shots at people who have accomplished more than I have, or will, in the field of music...especially when the majority of us base our "facts" on words from those with sour grapes.
You should have seen me at my father's funeral - no way Eddie was that bad. Maybe he was pounded and acting like and ass at Dime's public memorial - if he was, that's too bad. He should have had his act together for an occasion such as that...you will get no argument from me on that.
Jimmy, I couldnt fathom your feelings at your dads funeral.
EVH met Dime once, no way could feel the loss that you did for your dad, no way.
And you are right, it was his public memorial, not the funeral.
EVH wrote some of the greatest lps of all time, no doubt. He influenced hundreds of thousands of guys to pick up the guitar. We havent seen anyone come through since with that kind of impact..
I have mixed feeling's about this shit, but one thing is sure, I'll NEVER stop listening and admiering Van Halen's music even if Ed would blow up some country with nuclear weapon.
