Re: Attention rpg players...

What about Dungeons and Dragons, book and paper? Anyone do that? I've got a large percentage of 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 3.5 Ed books (I've not played since 2nd edition, since before they changed the covers from AD&D 2nd ed, to the black books with just AD&D. I just keep buying them incase I ever play again.

I also play Magic the Gathering. I used to be addicted to AC, and I played WoW for like 2 months, until I realized it sucked, and MMO's can go to hell.

I'm strictly a PC gamer, but so far my favorites (in no particular order) consist of:

- EverQuest (been playing since Ruins of Kunark release)
- Elder Scrolls: Morrowind
- Gothic I & II
- Knights of the Old Republic...first one only!

I dabbled in the old Wizardy, Bard's Tale and Ultima games back in the Apple II days, but I don't remember much about them. Right now I'm waiting for Gothic III, Lord of the Rings Online (formerly Middle-Earth Online), and the PC version of Oblivion. Too bad KotOR: Sith Lords sucked balls.

Fallout 1 & 2. The "asshole character"-answers were too fucking funny. Also about the only real RPGs I ever played.. I'm not too keen on the Dungeons&Dragons stuff, I prefer assault rifles and stuff. The story was also more appealing to me, grim future, brutal stuff etc, yadda yadda.
I really loved point&click-adventures, though. The Lucasfilm Games/LucasArts stuff was just totally genius. Indy Jones & Monkey Island.. spent countless hours with those games.

The only money I ever spent on games were Elder Scrolls (Arena, Daggerfall, Morrowind), but I never play them (My 10 year old son does). I just can't sit there for hours on end. Back in the good ol' Commodore 64 / Amiga days we would write our own games. I guess I like creating better than playing.

Genesis - Shining In The Darkness - That was a Shining Force series game as well IIRC. I listened to Black Sabbath's Never Say Die repeatedly while playing that, and every time I hear a track from the album it reminds me of the game
I tried the one after that, the one that was laid out like Q*Bert
I didn't like it

I don't like "real time" RPGs where you're getting stomped while you scroll through submenus to find your Obliterate All Enemies spell

SquareSoft games - I buy them for the movies alone

I'm a HUGE RPG freak.

I pretty much agree with Matt's entire post!

Square-Enix games were and are some of the best rpg's ever.

I played Morrowind, NWN avidly.

The Final Fantasy (played them all) are the best rpg games ever, FF VII is the best game ever made, that was an extreme experience, magical!

Xenogears was awesome too. I played 50 of them in all, I think.
You took too much, man. Too much. Too much.

On the NES I mostly played Legend of Zelda, Dragon Warrior 1-4, and Final Fantasy. SNES, Final Fantasy 3. PC, Final Fantasy 7, Diablo, but mostly I stick with Neverwinter Nights now.

Re: Attention rpg players...

NWN is probably the best traditional RPG game out there. No limits to what you can do really aside from your own programming/art skills.

Right now I'm playing WOW, I'm finally level 60 and now they say in a month or two with the expansion it will go up to level 70. Geez. Right now I'm trying to get to the point where I can do the "big raid" zones. Where you need 20+ people.

I played DAOC for a long time and was a raid leader on my server.

Never played Everquest, I didn't like it.

Too many console games for me to name. Final Fantasy 6 (3 over here in the USA) was my favorite.

FF6 : Favorite game of all time. My daily soundtrack consists of either the Celes or Terra theme.

FF7 : best PSX FF. ps. aeris was a whiny bitch who deserved it.

FF8: ew
FF11: ew. massive grind in that game.

FF Tactics : whoa. hard, yet fun.

Secret of Mana with 2 friends : GREAT!... why do i have to be the sprite?

Chrono Trigger : wowza. must buy.

Xenosaga : this movie. i mean game, is LONG. Its like an hour of cutscenes before you can make your first save. Im serious.

in my 2 cents, > nothing < can beat FF6. guess where my login name comes from? :o

Re: Attention rpg players...

ff6 was something else man... that game was friggin deep! you could also do multiplayer, which was pretty sweet. I would always get dudes like sabin or edgar with every spell on the game then one more person like mog or gogo and my cousin would use two other people. We destroyed everything... even those damn dinosaurs on the island in the WOR next to Doma Castle.

Secret of Mana, with two others playing, quickly became a sweet game as well.

If you could somehow turn FF6 into a multiplayer, turnbased rpg I think I would die right then and there.

SNES in BAD condition, with no RF no power adapter, just two controllers (I chewed on the upper right parts. Nothing beats sitting back, playing an RPG, and chewing on the upper right of the controller.) 58 and change (also 18 shipping). Also 10 games, Zelda, Street Fighter 2, and some crap.

FF3, cart only 36? 38 something like that.
FF2 cart only, 30ish
BoF cart with maps like 30
Ogre battle, with everything, like 50ish IIRC.

I also sold my limited edition game cube platinum that had never really been played, with 4 games, for 106$.

I've been considering starting an FF7 game for awhile, almost did it today. Those games just make me so happy.
