Re: What\'s your career?

Engineer for a major chip manufacturer. Scooter, given your location, my guess is we work for the same company!

I also worked for Boeing for a while.

I was once told by an old engineer "Being an engineer is a good job, you will never get rich but you will never starve."

It sounds lame, but ultimately you need to choose something you like to do. If you hate your job you will end up hating you life.

I'm a security architect. 12 years.

I design secure computing systems for part of the nation's infrastructure.

Love the career, getting tired of The Company.

My official title is Item Processing Specialist II. Yeah, sounds snazzy doesnt it? Don't mean much, I balance transactions for Regions Bank (formerly Union Planters). I graduated with my 2nd associate degree this year. First one was Associates of Mathematics (minor in english). For some reason, and this along with star wars makes me an official nerd, I found math quite fun. Calculus and statistics were my favorites. The 2nd was Information Technology: Communications concentrated (networking). I Plan on either moving up into the IT dept at regions or working in the networking field elsewhere.

College right. 2 years before I take Medecine in University.

I just hope to work at the Emergency.
I'd love to be in the action with people spilling blood after a car crash and treath them properly.

I just gotta continue my spree on good grades.

I'm in college... but I'm trying to figure out what I want to do with my sorry life , so, what are you guys doing?
I'm thinking of a couple different things... auto mech.,
computer service tech, shit, I don't know....lol

[/ QUOTE ]

You don't want to be a computer service tech - that's a low paying grunt job. If you are in a higher level of IT (application programmer) count on you job being shipped overseas.

If you can, don't go for auto mech, go for body repair. People will always get into wrecks and need to have cars repaired - any and all brands. Go for more exspensive models if possible. You can do collector car restoration as well. Anyone will pay big bucks for a good autobody man.
