• Georgia bound

It's 1:15 and I'm flying outa here at 5:00 to go to Georgia for my son's graduation. He finished Army bootcamp and graduation is Thursday. I'll spend 9 hours with him tomorrow and then go to his grad. Don't know what to expect. He left here a long haired kid. Wonder what he's gonna look like with short hair and a uniform.

Wasn't I just talking to you's guy about him getting ready to leave. Damn, he's done! I asked him how he liked it, and he said it was a piece of cake . The only he didn't like was making his bed. ...............huh?

Anyway, schools next and I guess the thing I'll be worried about is the call from him saying he's going to Iraq/Afghanistan.

Later!

Congrats to him!

Piece of cake?? Maybe he should have gone to Parris Island, he wouldn't be saying it was a piece of cake then. 12 weeks with no liberty, TV, or phone calls (unless you were the high scorer on the PFT or rifle range).

But that's cool of him to go in at a time like this, it really separates the men from the wannabes. Like the losers who whine when they get activated that they only signed up for the college money.
When you join, even it's just the National Guard, Uncle Sam owns your ass!
BTW - what's his MOS? That will have a lot to do in determining if he goes over there.
Unleash the fury.....Texas style!

Don,
Same thing happened to my nephew. He lived with us for 2 1/2 years. All he wanted to do was sit around & play video games. He signed up, went through boot camp and acted like it was nothing. He was in basic when 911 happened. He though it was one of their mind games. He served his time in Iraq (1 year is all they required), and is home already.

Congrats to all!

Funny, he's the same. The day before grad was family day, so I got to spend time with him on a pass. He wanted to go over to the PX and get a PSP game system. (I don't even know what the hell it is). He got a cell phone (which is good).
He's still a kid at heart. Thou he breezed thru this bootcamp stuff, I hope he realizes what could be ahead of him. Then again, I don't think anyone, whether they've served in Iraq, Vietnam, or any conflict/war, knows what's ahead of him.

Thanks to all for the Congrats for him.
