Wow... I am the only Elixir user. You guys gotta try these things. Little more expensive. But, they last longer and sound better for longer.

Or have tried them multiple times and been disappointed each time

I just tried them on my SL1 and the parts monster, they seem pretty good so far. No complaints. I'm using 9-42.

I like Exilir but for the money, I choose D'Addario or GHS
0.10-0.46 and thinking of going heavier strings on 4th-6th strings.

Elixir are nice but not worth the extra coin IMHO.
I used them regularly but recently switched to D'Addario.
Elixirs last a little longer but just like any old string they will sound flat after a while and they will get dirty.
I use D'Addario 10-46 for my SL2H standard E tuning and Dean Markley Blue Steel 10-46 for my standard D tuned Ibanez.

I also like DR very much (very loud acoustically) and GHS boomers are pretty cool.
I almost voted Snarling Dogs just because of the cool name

remember: always play your guitar with clean hands, always wipe off the strings after playing (wiping them one at a time is particularly effective), if you play it regularly (like once every day) change strings at least every 3-4 weeks to keep the sound alive and your fretboard clean.

I will have to give them a shot with my next changing. I gotta agree with you, elixirs are pretty expensive. Last time I went to buy, they wanted almost 18 bucks a set. I LOL'ed at them =).

Best strings you can get, in my opinion

GHS Boomers (or Carvin strings... Boomers in Carvin packaging) 10-46 in E or Eb.

Ernie Ball Power Slinky 11-48 on certain guitars in Eb or D.

Ernie Ball 10-56 for my 7-string. Though, I may try the Boomers 7 set soon.

Your frets will hate you because of the pure stainless steel strings, though. You should get stainless frets on your guitar so you don't have to worry about wear from those strings.

Have been using Fender and GHS. I think I will give the D'addarios a try.
